I am not sure if there is a thread already.
Did anyone else see it? I saw it on Tuesday. I wasn't blown away, but I liked it. I made a conclusion that he is the most powerful superhero.
Kate Bosworth was such a miscast.
But I loved the boy! He is adorable!

LOL, I tried to start a thread, but it didn't go very far. I saw it last week.

Who would you have like to have seen instead of Kate Bosworth? I was trying to figure that out myself.

Oh man, I loved it! I saw it at the drive-in last week, so I missed a little dialogue, but thought the story and effects were awesome. Much more than expected! I LOVE the show Smallville, so I couldn't imagine not seeing Tom Welling as Superman, but Brandon was awesome. And the little boy was super cute!! Anyway, we loved it over here in GA!

Kate Bosworth was just too....young! Too much lipgloss made her look like she was 17 or something. Just couldn't believe her.

Brandon Routh was adorable as both Superman and Clark Kent; I wish they had done more with Clark! He was so great at portraying the nerdy/cute/misfit character.

Possible Spoiler ahead! (Sorry I don't know how to do the cool blacked-out effect-thingy)

The special effects were cool, but I was verrrrry unhappy with the storyline. The way they left things was just weird for Lois, her "guy" and the little boy. Superman becomes like this weird "Uncle Superman" who visits once in awhile or something?! I don't know; it felt to me like they painted themselves into a corner with Lois's new love interest and didn't know how to get out of it gracefully. I was very unsatisfied with the ending and I WANT MORE CLARK! :

Are they planning a sequel? maybe that will tie up the loose ends more satisfactorily one day...

I was thinking about it too.
I'm thinking:
Kate Bekinsale
Liv Tyler.

I was a little confused with the story line myself.

I like Superman and Smallville in general...but the movie was definitely too predictable. It was like a swinked down version of Smallville! Wasn't the best movie this summer for me.

Clark Kent definitely needs to make more movies!

Why is that guy who plays Lois' fiance always plays a rich well-off fiancee in his movies? Like in The Notebook and another movie I can't think of the title right now.

Kate Beckinsale would have been good.

Kate Bosworth really *is* young, that's part of the problem. She's 23, I think, whereas Kate Beckinsale is almost 33. I think that would have been a better age, considering that this movie was supposed to continue from where Superman II left off, at least in a very general sense. OK, Brandon Routh is only 26, but Superman is supposed to look young.

I didn't think she was bad, but I'm not sure I liked her character that much. Not Lois-y enough for me, but part of that was undoubtedly part of having a child.

I wish there had been more of Clark, also. It was like they barely tried with that part of the movie. Perhaps they had more, but had to cut it out for the sake of length, but yes, more of Clark would have been good. Especially at the end where it was clear that once again Clark had disappeared while Superman was gone.

Yes, how can those people not see a connection between Superman and Clark Kent is beyond me.

DH and I saw it right before we went on vacation. All of it seemed to work for him, where for me I started asking some questions that it left me with in relation to the previous movies it continues from.

I thought Kate Bosworth was also a little young. Kate Beckinsale would be an interesting choice to play Lois. I would be interested to see that.

I would also have liked to have seen more Clark in the movie. I had heard, at least in the book version (which I haven't read), there were a couple things that may have been interesting if they had added to the movie (I don't know if they may have been at one point or not, I just read on the internet about these two parts). His mother had a new boyfriend apparently, and I guess Clark had a surprised reaction (at least in the book) to find that out when he first came back. The other part was (I'm assuming this may have been at the farm, if that's where he left all of his stuff before leaving), he looks at his clothes and wonders with 5 years gone by, if they are still in style, then thinks to himself, "but when have I ever really been concerned if my clothes were in style?"

I liked Brandon Routh as Superman, but it would have been interesting to see how Tom Welling would have played the part (I know they didn't want to go there when casting though). I also love Smallville and had heard that Brian Singer had met with the producers of the show to discuss the movie's plot and the show, to make sure they were not messing with each other too much I guess. I noticed however the flashback scenes showed a "15 year old" Clark (according to the ending credits) with glasses interestingly, and they show him kind of finding out he can levitate and jump (almost fly) but on Smallville, at least at 15, he wasn't quite as they depicted in the movie. Just found that interesting given what I'd heard, but it's the movie and a different interpretation of the story in some ways anyhow.
