My turtle escaped!

I don't know how she did it, but she's gone! I thought it was weird she hasn't come out of her hidey cave at all to eat all day, so I moved the top stone- she wasn't there!

I walked up and down the alley thinking she must have climbed out of her pool and out under the fence but there was no sign of her.

I don't know if someone might have found her, or if a possum got her. Do possums eat turtles?

I just have to find her. We had a big storm the other night with lots of rain and it raised the water level enough for her to climb out I think.. I don't even know how long she's been gone! It's normal for her to kinda hide out, so I didn't think about it until she hadn't come out to sun or eat or anything all day.

Poor Shelley! I wonder where she is or if we can get her back..

I have a neighbor that has 2 turtles that live in her backyard. I asked her what she does in the case of a storm or during winter. She said they have areas in her yard where they go for shelter, and have lived in her yard for years.
One got out once (they aren't sure how) and it was a year before they found him again. they happend to see him wandering in the street. It seems he was painted by his new owners, but once they cleaned him off they realized it was him from a mark on his shell.

Maybe Shelley just needs a little adventure?
I hope you find her soon. I'm sure she'll do okay out there on her own.
