I didn't experience it at all with ds, so I'm not really certain what it feels like...the past couple of mornings, I've woken up with horrendous backaches. It doesn't come and go, it's steady, and it hurt so bad that at first the only thing I could think of was that I had suddenly developed a raging kidney infection (my pee says that is not the case). It hurt from my lower up to about the middle of my back and, at its worst, radiated into my belly. Both times I got up, ate something, and walked around, and it went away. NOT a pleasant feeling. Was this a bout of back labor?

I had continuous back labor for 17 hours with DS- talk to me lol. If your baby is lying in a posterior position, that will likely cause back labor- it was the cause of mine. During this pregnancy I've been doing pelvic tilts religiously and its working. The baby is in perfect position, and additionally, the sciatic nerve pain I was having has gone away since I started doing these exercises regularly. I suggest you do the same, and when you get up in the morning stretch on all fours like a cat. It really helps to loosen those tense lower back muscles. The next time you have an appointment, ask them to check if the baby is posterior. If you can find out ahead of time, then you can take steps to get the baby turned and save yourself from a WHOLE lot of pain. Trust me, delivering a posterior baby is very hard and something that can be avoided if its treated properly. I pushed DS for 2.5 hours and separated my pubic bone, leaving me with the incredibly annoying and painful condition of pubis symphasis. Sure it was all cute that he came out face up and eyes open- but I took a beating delivering him that way. I hope you feel better soon!!
