Well Ladies i'm SOOOO glad to say that I'm now the proud mommy of two gorgeous and completely different baby boys! These two honestly could not be any more different if they tried!

I was in early labor from July 5, 2006 until about noon on my birthday (July 6) at which point the contractions were obviously getting stronger and closer together. I was still in denial as I didn't want to share my birthday (and what are the odds REALLY of giving birth on my birthday and due date?) I cleaned my room and generally was just a major crab. I noticed around 4:30 that I was really WORKING to get through the contractions but didn't want to go to the hospital due to bad treatment when I had Caleb. I figured at that point this was really it and from then on my goal was to have my birthday celebration FIRST. LoL.

we went to the store at about 6 or so and my ctx were strong but bearable. when we got home around 6:45 they weren't even that. I was really working to stay sane during the ctx and they were mostly in my back. they were still strong and painful in my stomach but the *breaks* between for my back were almost nonexsistent. I decided that I had done what I could and needed to be at the hospital...mainly b/cuz i was STILL chasing Caleb around trying to keep him out of stuff!

The ride to the hospital was awful. the contractions were in my stomach a little bit but I knew what i was feeling...back labor...again. I was in SO much pain. we got to the hospital at about 7 or 7:30 or so and the nurse (the *mean* one) checked me. she was so rough with me. she said my bag of waters were bulging and i was 6cms. that was encouraging since I ordered the epidural the second I saw a nurse after walking in.

I finally got the epidural around 8:15 or so...and it only took on one side! the SAME side as with Caleb only I didn't have the option of having it redone. especially since a check at 8:45 (or so) showed I was already 8cms and my water broke after she checked. they had me lay on my left side and eventually the pain was dulled on that side. not a whole lot though. enough to make it bearable thank goodness

I was checked at 9:30 and was found to have barely a tiny lip of cervix left on the left and was informed that Dr M was on his way and we would probably start pushing at 10. that irritated me to NO end since I was the only one that would be pushing but I let it go since I was complete!! yay! The nurse broke the bed down and I started getting upset emotionally knowing what was coming (i thought) but i was in for a BIG suprise! the nurse (this was the nice one as the mean one went away at around 8:30) propped my legs up in the sturrups in such a way as they wouldn't slip and asked if I was comfortable (i was) she then said that a contraction was starting and that she'd like me to try to push...and IT WAS HEAVEN! no one was holding my legs or pushing them up into my throat...she said I should aim for 10 seconds of pushing but otherwise just push whenever I felt like it. well first she said I should just breathe through the ctx b/cuz Dr M hadn't gotten there yet. It was torture since I figured out by then that pushing through a ctx made it go away! He FINALLY got there at 10:20 and said "PUSH" and i did and a push and a half later his head was out. I gave another lil half push adn one of his shoulders were born and then another push and he was almost completely out. i gave a half-a$$ed fourth push but i'm pretty sure i didn't need it

The first thing I noticed about my son was how SMALL he looked. he honestly looked so dinky. I knew then that I was right in that he wasn't bigger than Caleb...My guess had been 8.5-9lbs and I was almost right on the money since he was 8lbs 10oz. exactly one pound smaller. Jen cut the cord she was really excited about it haha. they took him away and measured him he was 20.75" long, 14" head and 13 inch chest. actually might have been more like 13.5". I can't remember exactly. I did tear along the episiotomy scar (2nd degree) and its quite a bit more painful healing then the episiotomy was with Caleb. might be because they only would give me tylenol 3 instead of percocet which i finally got this morning. I'm feeling loads better since.

I looked at him long and hard as they gave him a bit of oxygen and thought about it and he DEFINATELY fits the name I chose a month ago (almost) so he's Jacob Thomas. He latched on right away perfectly. he had a couple of instances of bad latch but NOTHING like Caleb. he also has times when he doens't want to eat but wants to have some time on the boob. very much into comfort nursing. I adore him. He's gorgeous!

I can't wait until my mom gets back with my pic cd so I can share pics. Caleb is screeching as he woke up from his nap but I cannot pick him up. I feel so guilty about it but he's fine he just doesn't want to be in bed anymore.

anyways my milk is in the process of coming in and i'm wanting Jacob to be a reverse cycler so I'm gonna go nurse him and try to get Caleb calmed down. he missed mommy a lot well not really but i'm sure the sight of his brother will calm him. he LOVES his brother!
