I just purchased 2 Regents last month for my 3 and 5 year olds. These are our first Britax so I don't know how the straps compare to other models but they've been just fine so far. We've been very happy with the seats, the boys love them, and we we're able to get a rock solid install the first try.

lizc, you may want to check the message boards at car-seat.org here. The members there are very knowledgable and they should have some advice for you.
