They Cage the Animals at Night by Jennings Michael Burch. It's a wonderful book, & the only one that has ever made me *really* cry. It's a true autobiographical story of a boy who spends most of his life in & out of foster care & the terrible things that happened to him. I read it the first time in high school honor's Engish & it's been in my permanent collection since.

Oh, we're going way back? That book definitely made me cry. As well as Where the Red Fern Grows. Probably even The Outsiders. I used to cry when reading all the time. Now I rarely cry
