I am repainting our kitchen. We have a ten gallon aquarium on a shelf with one small goldfish in it. All the others died~this one has survived plague, famine, disease, consumption, you name it~everything that killed the others.
Anyway, a glob of paint dripped from the brush and I couldn't see where it went for a sec. I turned to look at the tank and see the glob of paint sinking slowly to the bottom. You know when paint hits water it beads up, right?
The fish saw it too. Before I could blink he swam over and....
... gulped down the glob of paint!!
If a fish could make a face he did. Instantly a cloud of white started puffing out from his gills and filling the water around him!!!
Holy mother of....wow. I wasn 't sure what to do for him. I decided to dilute the water and let the filter run. Moving him into a small bowl might stress him and he doesn't need that.
He's still alive 24 hours later and seems no worse for the wear.
Someone please remind me to donate this fish to science. He survives everything!!!
