Oh, the honesty of children

Today we were at Target for a couple things and we always end up in the pet aisle looking at all the "designer" doggie stuff. The kids love it. Anyways, we decided to get Bree a teddy bear in hopes that she will leave the kids toys alone then. So, dd asks why we are buying it, while walking down the main aisle toward the checkout. I told her it's so Bree can have her own toy to do whatever she wants with and leave their toys alone. Dd replies with "Oh. You mean so Bree can hump on it?" What could I say? She wasn't the only one at that point waiting for a response either. So I just said, "Yes, hon, so she can hump on it." :

Now, take that stuffy and put some peppermint oil on it. reapply every few days for a few weeks to establish that Bree's stuffy is different from the kids stuffies, (in ways that have nothing to do with humping )

Why peppermint oil specifically?

We got two Target toys for Nana on Saturday... she had the squeaker out of one by that evening and the other one was in pioeces by this afternoon. Cute toys, yes, but...

I think just peppermint oil because it has a strong smell... I imagine another strong scent would work. I use butter

I took Blazey to petsmart with me the other day and I *thought* the screeching monkey she loved so well was on clearance. (It was in the clearance box.) So I tossed it to her and she slobbered it up real good when I turned around and saw a whole rack of em for $7 each. Ack!

It was too late to take it away from her by then so I bought it. She carried it all the way home like that little weenie dog in the petsmart commercial.

Five minutes after we got it home she'd ripped an arm off.

It's still mostly in one piece, except for the nose and one arm.

I've never seen her hump it though.

We've actually had pretty good luck with the stuffed toys, as Bree is just shy of 3.5 lbs.

Until Havoc was 4 he used to remove the face off all his stuffies, once the face had been eaten off he never damaged another square inch of them and would protect them with his life. I figured he just didn't like them looking at him

I'm so glad my kids aren't the only ones saying embarassing things all the time.

Shannon, I remember you talking about that a year or two ago now. I had forgotten about it but now I'm remembering how much it cracked me up. He is just the big boss man always eh?

tyson is weird about his stuffies too. when he is alone he will carry them around, lay his head on them and love em up, but if goldie and him are in the yard, he tears them up in minutes. so they are limited to his crate or when he and Goldie are separated. i hadnt tried the oil though, i will have to cuz he sure loves dd's stuffed animals!

I can't get anything with a squeaker... Molly will de-squeak it in minutes, then ignore it completely!

Bear destroys anything stuffed in about 5 minutes. I bought him a stuffed toy at the store once, and he had it shredded and had the stuffing all over the back yard by the time I had the rest of the groceries put away. He loves to tear stuff up. Thankfully, he waits until I give my "okay" before he does it, so he doesn't destroy the kid's stuff.

He's a smart guy!
