I love my doggy.

We lost our 15 1/2 year old chocolate lab last Fall. Her passing was really hard on me. She was so old and she really suffered at the end and I have always felt guilt for that. I have two young boys and I just couldn't give her the attention she deserved in her last weeks. I know that humans always come first and I know that I did my best, but I still feel badly about it.

Anyway, her death was really hard on me and part of me wondered if I could ever go through that again.

But, after about six months I got the puppy bug and we got our standard poodle puppy a little over a month ago.

Can I just gush and say how much I love having a pooch in the house again.

Even with all the puppy frustrations....I sure do love having a cold, wet nose on my legs during the day....and soft fur to snuggle with (during the times that he isn't running around ).

Just wanted to share.

Aren't dogs GREAT? LOL My "furbaby" is an 85# female Alaskan Malamute, named "Akira". I just love her to pieces!

Here's a picture of her...

Losgann, he is jet black and has really sweet, soulfull eyes.

Joanna, I think Chase would take offense to that! Just teasing. The funny thing is, I am always telling my hubby that I can't wait to try out all the fun poodle cuts at the groomer and buy him his own rhinestone-studded collar. I am completely serious, too!

kfowler- What a great pooch! He looks like she is grinning from ear-to-ear in that picture- love it!

Aw, what a sweet thread. I'm glad that you got another poochie. For me, life isn't complete without at least one dog in the house.

I am right there with you! Last month my wonderful companion was laid to rest. It was my decision and although I have no doubt it was the right one it was the hardest thing I had ever done. I have terribly missed her and also felt lost without a canine companion. This past monday we got a puppy. Not at all what I thougt I would get but I fell in love and am sooo happy! She is sooo smart and has been doing great with her crate and and housetraining. I am looking forward to getting her into puppy classes soon!

I know just what you mean. I am simply lost without my pets. I have an overwhelming urge to have them around - I can't explain it. We lost our male bullmastiff last summer to lymphoma and I needed a puppy soon after. Now last week we lost our cat, and here I am looking for another one. I love my pets and I miss them every day when they're gone, but it's just so empty around here without them. I won't feel complete again until there's another kitty sleeping on my bed at night.
