I just had to share the story of my little lactivist. We are expecting our fourth baby any day now. All of the others have been exclusively breastfed until they weaned themselves. Lately, my six year old dd has been quite the little lactivist. EVERY time we are in a store, she points out the formula and LOUDLY remarks at how disgusting it is, how she can't believe ANYONE would give that to a baby and how WE would NEVER feed that to our baby.
Last week, I got my first free "gift" of formula in the mail. It was a can of powdered formula and I decided to take it to church to give to the food pantry program. On the way, I was reading the ingredients list. (I've never done this before) I was commenting to dh that I can't even pronounce most of the ingredients and he was saying, "If you can't pronounce it, you don't want to eat it." DD asked what it was and I showed her. She said, "I knew something smelled bad in here!"
She then said how sorry she feels for babies that have to drink it.
Today at the store, I was buying baby wash and diapers for the new baby. She saw the formula, picked up a can and said very loudly, "Here's that yucky stuff some mommies give their babies!" There was another mom in the aisle and she burst out laughing.
Anyway, no real point to this other than to share her story. She cracks me up! I told dh theres NO way our grandchildren will be bottlefed, She's a breastfeeding girl all the way!
