Tide commercial features bottle-feeding mom...

In the past two days I've seen a commercial for Tide on Canadian television that promotes the idea that "being a mom doesn't mean you have to smell like a mom" with the implication that you don't want to reek like baby spit-up (which is true) so you should use Tide with Febreze. Fine, but the "mom" in the commercial is bottle-feeding her baby, which I doubt means that Tide thinks that formula is stinkier than breastmilk. Which it is, but I think that it's too subtle a message for the average commercial and what they're really doing is normalizing (or continuing the normalization of) bottle-feeding. So I sent a polite but straightforward e-mail telling them that I objected to their portrayal of a "mom" as a bottle-feeder and I'd be boycotting Proctor & Gamble products until they pulled the ad. Why do they even need to show the baby feeding? Just show it being burped, that'd get the message across!

Anyone else who want to send them an e-mail, go here.

P&G ad

Well, I'm all for getting companies to stop promoting a bottlefeeding culture, but P&G is, in my experience, at least trying to be socially responsible for such a large company. My uncle has worked for them for 30 years and they really take care of their employees, put their products in recyclable packaging, trying to save energy in manuf., etc.

Anyway, here's the reason why I'm posting. An ad for Pampers (P&G) with a mom bfing her baby. Very sweet ad (other than that I CD). http://ca.pampers.com/en_CA/products...t/swaddlers.do

Click the ad at the bottom of the page.

I'm not saying don't write. Just wanted to point out this ad, too.

What a sweet commercial! I discovered the Pampers Swaddlers when my youngest dd was born in April and was too small for all the cloth diapers I had. I've been using them as my "backup" 'sposies that I keep on hand because I really liked that mesh inside and they are so soft compared to other 'sposies. Anyway...I'm encouraged to see such a sweet positive portrayal of breastfeeding in a commercial! Maybe I'll email them a quick note of appreciation.

Ok, I just started looking into this so I could be wrong, but from my research into health and beauty products that don't promote animal cruelty, P&G is mentioned as one that does do animal testing. So IMO they should be boycotted anyway. If this is not the case, please let me know! I'm glad they have a bf'friendly commercial, though!
