They don't sell nursing tea, but they do sell this:

Wow. And it's under the "breastfeeding" category.

I dunno, that site in general doesn't seem altogether anti-breastfeeding.
Maybe contact the owner of the company and see if they would consider stocking the nursing teas.

That might be useful to someone who has lost a child or to someone who is starting one of the rare medications that prohibits them from nursing. They should sell nursing tea though - kinda seems one-sided.

Hmmmm, well, my friend had her baby 2 months premature, and the baby died. She had to bind her breasts, and she still was so engorged that she had to wrap 2 bath towels around her breasts to soak up the milk. She really could've used something like that. Her OB made a mistake, which is why her son died....you think he would've been compassionate enough to give her a shot to dry up her milk right away.

Sophmama: I don't know why they don't carry it, but Earth Momma Angel Baby does make a mother's milk tea.

i agree. i woudl contact the owner. they shoudl sell the mother's milk tea or something similar. it does seem to promote bf'ing, natural c/b, etc. though.

Earth Momma Angel Baby sells both teas so maybe we should advocate that site instead of boycotting the first one??

Ditto- that was my first thought. I saw the no more milk tea at Earth Fare but it was right next to the mothers milk tea.

They do sell breastfeeding kit though and booby tubes, nursing necklaces and a book called "mothers Milk". I don't think a boycott is nessasary, but simply requesting that they carry nursing tea too.

no. no, "we" shouldn't boycott what is probably some wahm's website full of pregnancy and birth goodies. i don't think the point of the previous posters can be stressed enough. some women lose their children. don't jump on this product without a little trip over to pregnancy and birth loss forum; open your eyes. we should be pointed and deliberate with our resources and energies and boycotts. not judgemental.
i think telling a company what products to sell and to whom is a fools errand. talk to some mamas about how much you love breast-feeding instead. and have some compassion.
and please forgive my tone, but i'm frustrated.

I agree with you

I can see where it would be useful.

I saw a mama's milk tea but it's out of stock. I'll be emailing her and asking her to stock a mama's milk tea.

On the plus side, this coffee shop I'll be working at PT carries Organic Mother's Milk Tea as well as Pregnancy Tea

I actually have this tea in my house!

OK, hold on, hold on, I've always suffered from extreme oversupply with each baby. With this last baby, I tried everything and he was really suffering. SO, on advice from another breastfeeding support person, I bought this tea b/c I didn't think I would be able to tolerate the taste of eating sage leaves alone. It's actually quite pleasant tasting (has hibiscus leaves) and worked fast! My supply went down within a couple of days and my baby turned into a happy, contented nursling!

So, my answer to the boycott is a resounding NO! It's an anti-galactogogue herbal tea and there are many reasons why a breastfeeding mother may have to take it. Whether it a rapid wean (for whatever valid reasons) or to assist with an oversupply, I think it's a good and helpful product and I'm glad I found it. The only recommendation I must include is to be VERY careful as it's very powerful stuff.

: I had horrible issues with oversuppy as well, caused me so many problems with DD. I ended up having to take 1/4 tsp of dried sage on a piece of peanut butter bread 3x a day for 10 days. It was utterly vile. Next babe, I'm getting some of this tea.

i was thinking it would be good for oversupply also. but i wasnt sure.
i agree that the site looks like a good one and that boycotts should be reserved for times when it really is appropriate...otherwise it defeats the purpose.
i mean, how many here purchase Nestle products? does everyone know what brands belong to Nestle? that is a huge one IMHO.

I have a good friend that sells Earth Mama Angel Baby products and that particular item is used for women who've lost nursing children or who have suffered late term miscarriages. It has nothing to do with being anti breastfeeding. Continuing to lactate is a painful reminder for them and they can become engorged and suffer breast infections. I'm unaware of a nursing tea made by EMAB. WAHM's can't afford to buy minimum orders from most companies just to stock a nursing tea. She already has an account with EMAB and probably has no need to start another account with some other less respected company.

No, we should not boycott a site that supports breast-feeding, we need as many folks on our side a spossible, and something is always better than nothing. I say we should save boycotting for the sites that are really anti-breast-feeding.
