if you take high vitamin CLO, what multivitamin do you take?

so i know the point of NT is getting nutrients from foods and not needing a multivitamin, but i am not there yet. and since i have been nursing for over a year and was pregnant for almost 10 months before that, my body NEEDS a multivitamin or my body starts to fall apart.

i have started take blue ice CLO and BO and ma now concerned aout getting too much vitamin A if i also continue taking my multivitamin (it's whole foods prenatal vit, fyi).

so, for those of you who take CLO and a multivitamin, which one do you take? do you find one w/o vit A?

Thanks!!

Have you tried taking a multi-mineral? I use CLO for my fat-soluble vitamins, then take a multi-mineral for the minerals and trace minerals that our modern soils have had depleted (even organic tends to not have enough minerals, conventional is even worse). I use Total-Mins without iron by Country Life (since I cook in cast iron). I do tend to be b-vitamin deficient so I use nutritional yeast liberally on my salads and baked potatoes.

I also had a hair test done, and came up really low in a few specific minerals (selenium, manganese, lithium) so I am supplementing extra of those on top of taking the full-spectrum multi-mineral.

How much Blue Ice are you taking?

It's likely any multi contains the chemical form of vit. A, that's the form you need to be concerned about. Not the natural A in foods. And if it's beta carotene, forget about it completely, current ratio of conversion is around 21:1 for adults.

I don't like multi's for that reason: so many chemical vitamins. Like wrong amounts and kinds of A and C. Wrong kind of E. Etc. I prefer to mix and match like Toraji does, more expensive though.

I so go back and forth with myself on supplementing minerals. I try to do a lot of bone broths. I like Trace minerals brand though for a multi mineral:

I like Concentrace. It's great - I've been taking it for quite a while.

I like Dr. Ron's supplements. http://www.drrons.com/docs-best-multi.htm

I have taken his multi vitamin and really liked how I felt while taking it. I believe he actually created the supplement with the idea that it would be taken in conjunction with high vitamin cod liver oil, which he also sells at his site. It seems to complement the clo well. He is also part of the Weston Price organization.

What a bummer. I had such high hopes for his multi when I saw your message...

Beta Carotene (natural) 25000 IU -- wonder why this is in there, plus there is concern that beta carotene supplements are harmful according to some studies.

Buffered Vitamin C (calcium ascorbate) 1000 mg -- this is the bad kind of vit. C b/c excess calcium in blood.

Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) 200 mcg -- not as well absorbed as methyl B12 and the cyanocobalamin produces a small amount of cyanide as it breaks apart.

Alpha Lipoic Acid 25 mg -- this could be dangerous for anyone with amalgam fillings or is mercury toxic as ALA is a chelator that opens blood brain barrier.

At least the vit. E is natural form.

Perhaps you really cannot formulate your own multi, that this is the one that is least bad he could find.

Right now I am pregnant and nursing. I have been pregnant/nursing for the last 5 years.

I take CLO, BO, Juice Plus, Rainbow Light B-complex, Garden of Life Primal Defense & Buffalo liver capsules (can't eat that stuff yet).

I feel great and have tons of energy. I split my whole rountine into twice a day. I add in acerola cherry, high potency garlic, immune syrup and Nature's Sunshine VSC if I am feeling run down or sick.

Floradix, CLO, and whichever traceminerals product fits the budget when I'm ordering.

Many NTers I know take azomite powder in addition to CLO and BO.

Jane, could you provide some links for these? I'm considering switching from my multimineral to a multivit plus mins for various reasons but I've got concerns about some of the formulations. Mainly what you've mentionned above. I know MT mentionned that this kind of C was not a supportive form to take but I've searched and searched and I can find nothing stating that it's problematic. I would be happy to see something that I could show my nutritionist.

The betacarotene is another. The form I'm considering contains: Vitamin A (50% (5,000 I.U.) from fish liver oil and 50% (5,000 I.U.) as natural carotenes (alpha, beta, cryptoxanthin, zeaxanthin, and lutein) from D. salina) And this on top of my clo. Still there are some residual concerns.

Any thoughts, links etc?

I take CLO, vitamin E, evening primrose oil (helps with breast pain and moodiness), b-50 complex, dolomite, and vitamin C. I don't take butter oil (too pricey!) but I make sure to have some milkfat in my diet daily.
