How long will they let you go?

I am officially sick to death of this question and all its variations.

It is MY vagina, and no one will be "letting" me do anything with it except ME.

That is all. Thank you.

LMAO...you go girl.

I hear ya, you know I do. My least favorite question (which I didn't mind until a day or two ago) is "When are you due?"

I just stare for a moment. I can't help it... and then I answer. Everyone is very nice and sympathetic, but still.

I gotta admire you for sticking in there. I am at 38 weeks & already antsy. Hang in there!!! No one has ever been pregnant forever even though it may seem that way so don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!!

I saw a quote somewhere...can't recall where to give credit, but I loved it, especially as it has implications for VBACers like me.

Women should not have to ask permission from a doctor to use their own vagina.

I hate that question. I had a dr appointment today. The nurse wanted to know if I had an "induction date" yet. I was like WTF?? I'm not even due until Monday! WHY would I have a date scheduled for induction?? I told her no, I've never been induced in the past three pregnancies and don't intend to be this time. Yes, I want him out, NOW, but he'll come when he's ready. :

I'm seeing an OB for shadow care and the last two visits were the VEs and Group B. The nurse instantly says "c/s or vaginal?"....ummm, vaginal. "then undress from the waist down". well, I'm not doing VEs or group b strep, so unless there's another reason.....

Next visit different nurse but after the same conversation minus the GBS part, she still says "undress from the waist down." Why? I respond. "Because it's time for GBS" ummm, no, the doc and I had the conversation about that last time and I'm not doing the test.

They look at me like I'm some sort of weird alien creature. I think I'm going to be "too tired" for my next appt. blech.

Thanks ladies. kstsmith, I love that quote too, so true.

This stage is tough. I am so ready to be done. But I feel really defensive about the whole induction thing. It's like people believe that the baby MUST come out at 40 weeks or you're endangering them. They don't get that inductions come with risks too. So at this point telling anyone I'm overdue or complaining about where I am is an open invitation to give me advice about degraded placentas and low fluid levels. *sigh* I'm having a biophysical profile to make sure everything is ok. OK? If that's fine, then there's no MEDICAL reason to induce, and I'm not doing it for kicks or convenience!

I want to complain but no one can listen and sympathize, they just want to offer their "advice" or worse yet, a horror story about stillborn overdue babies : Thank goodness for DH who understands and rubs my back when I ask him to :

And thanks to you all for listening! PG I know you are right there with me, waiting stinks!

Hi! I was lurking over here from the October club and had to chime in because I have sort of a funny story to tell. My parents had planned on getting married eventually but sped things up because I came around and my dad's parents were very strict catholic. They set a date and hoped I would be late since my due date was about 8 months after the wedding. I was a month late in coming much to my parents relief and the doctor x-rayed me in the womb to see if everything was allright (hey - this WAS 1979 - and it's quite a kick to see the x-ray now!). I just think it is a funny family story and wanted to share! Induction smuction!! Good luck to all of you July mamas!! Cancer babies are the best (of course I'm biased )

We were due date buddies and whereas I was completely impatient, I truly do admire your patience. I think the next time I am PG I am going to try and be a lot more patient. Keep the faith!

When you are as big as we are and waiting to meet our babies, of course we want it over with at this point! But that doesn't mean we want to have an induction for convenience. Heck, let's all just march in and say "I'm hot, tired and huge...I'm here for my c/s....take the baby out, please". ugh. Why people have to offer their 'advice' or horror stories when you're not even overdue is beyond me. Why can't people just *listen* and empathize???

As of three weeks ago, I couldn't even call my own mother to chat without the first sentence out of her mouth being "Are you in labor?" : And the two phone calls I got today were my MIL asking "how the baby business is going", and the pastor from our church asking if we had our baby yet. I let the machine pick up, which I know is only going to fuel things ("why aren't they home?"), but sheesh, I was only due today!

I can totally relate to this. My mother has called me three times this week to "see how it's going." UMM, since you're watching the girls when I go into labor, I would have called! DUH!!!!!!!!

Both my mom and my MIL have started answering the phone with "Are you in labor?" I hate caller ID : I'm not due for TWO MORE WEEKS.

~~**sprays induction-happy-people repellant all over those getting harassed**~~ I must be really lucky because no one has ever bothered me about this! Even my mom who is a mainstream-everything RN doesn't agree with inductions and told me just the other day "You'll have the baby when the baby is ready" My CNM and the OB's in her practice are very laid-back and I would just be floored if any one of them ever asked me a question like "when is your induction date?" However, there is one nurse there who with a stone-cold face every time I go in says "undress from the waist down", like a robot who's been programmed. This past week she told me that, and I was wearing a dress, so I was like ummmm don't really need to do that. The CNM didn't even do a VE And I don't think she will unless she thinks there is some kind of problem. Either way I dont do VE's- especially not on a WEEKLY basis! :
