Amish Friendship Bread

Thread Starter
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew if when I make the starter for amish friendship bread I can use rice milk instead of cow milk. My 2yo is VERY allergic to all dairy, and I want him to be able to eat the bread also. The starter that I have made before (before I had kids) was 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, and 1 cup flour. Is the milk just for flavor?

Does anyone have a recipe that has NO milk (dairy or rice or otherwise)?

What about using coconut milk? It seems to work the same as dairy milk most of the time.
