Natural Floor Sealer - alternative to varnish or shelac?

We oiled the floor in our old porch too...

I don't know if it is any more natural though.

Actually, true shellac is a natural product...even edible! Although, I don't recommend it. It's considered a natural plastic (polymer), but unless you're doing seriously fine finish work (like a French Polish or sealing violins) it wouldn't be recommended for a floor anyway.

What kind of floors does she have? New or old? What kind of wood?

I just oiled our living room floor. Its wonderful, water doesn't bother it, if we get scratches just put some oil down, and we get a nice rustic pine floor

We used linseed and a bit of turpentine to thin it down.

Best time to oil is during the summer when it good and hot. Heat really helps the floor drink in the oil.
