High blood pressure and blurred vision after birth

My SIL had to have an emergency C section at 31 weeks because of her placenta detaching from the uterine wall and also high blood pressure.

Two days before her birth, her eyes got blurry. It's almost five weeks after, and they're still blurry.

The doctors are telling her, it's fine, you can have blurred vision up to six weeks after.

Is this true? Is there anything she can do to help her eyes?

She's scared they're going to be blurry for the rest of her life.

Any thoughts?

Go to the pregnancy resources forum and x-post this in the pre-eclampsia thread. Gossamer would be the best person to answer this for you.

Hypertension can still be a serious issue in women following birth. Other than blurred vision is the rest of her health in check and is she still receiving follow-up care?

As far as I know, once her blood pressure went down, at about three weeks post partum, the doctors said she was "okay".

She has a 6 week checkup, next week, which is when her blurry vision is supposed to resolve itself, I guess. She's afraid, and I'm worried too, that if the blurriness hasn't gone, that she'll just be stuck with it.

She was screened for eye diseases that affect the optic nerve and those came back okay. I can't remember the names, but I know there were two of them.

But yes, she has been receiving medical care and various checkups. Her C section incision has been giving her some problems as well, so she's been in for that, too.
