I knew Giardia was some sort of infection, but I had to look it up, sorry:

Basically it comes from cats and lakewater. Not washing hands after touching an infected cat or eating undercooked fish or other meats may be the culprit.
A basic chicken and rice diet (thoroughly cooked, if not boiled) is good for a while. You can try chicken, rice, peas, diced carrots, and garlic. Garlic kills parasites as well as other herbs, as mentioned on this site:

Thanks sorry should have elaborated more. CATS Really we don't have cats but the neighbors do. Well thanks Garlic is a good thing. Sounds like we may need to use the perscription drug I guess.
