Make your own ironing board cover?

I am fairly new to the sewing realm. I was thinking about my ironing board cover and how it really needs to be replaced. Do you think trying to make my own cover would be too hard for a beginning sewer? Any ideas on how to go about it?

TIA for helping this total novice. :

I don't think it would be too hard I havent' done my cover yet, but I just made a new pad for it out of insulbrite and duckcloth, I'm going to make a new decorative cover next. Make sure to pick a natural fiber fabric that won't melt here is a link for some instructions Janome tute

Basically just get the shape, add the depth of your board all around, plus some room to cinch it in +seam allowances.....I am thinking of doing elastic in a casing, but I will probably end up doing a gimp cord like in the instructions or a drawstring in a casing...simply because I probably will want to be able to tighten it further down the road if the fabric stretches etc.
