Update & Pics

I posted this in my DDC since they had asked for updates, but I thought I'd share with you all too!

Yesterday was Elora's one month birthday- we brought the staff cupcakes
They had started her on feeds the night before- but she's not tolerating them well- there was that green bile yuck coming back up hours and hours later. They had given her 1cc and 2ccs came back in the tube. I'm not totally sure what that all means, but I know it's not good.
They think she might just have to recover a little bit more from the surgery on her intestines- I really hope that's all it is.
Everything from the heart surgery looks fine though.
They took her off the vent for a bit to try her on Cpap- she did ok, & her blood gasses came back good, but had to work soooo hard and she is so little that she was using up all her energy just to breath, so they decided to reintubate her. She needs to use her calories to grow & not to breathe for a bit longer, I think.
She's up to 795 grams- she was 500 at birth.
AND I finally got to hold her for more than a second... ok, so it was only about three seconds, but still

The nurses took this one for us- I love it!

These are from her month birthday last night:

Wow, she seems so much bigger than just under 2 pounds! Grow, Elora, grow!

Oh she is so darling! I love that first picture, it looks like she is waving hello!
I am so glad you got to hold her a little longer, I know how precious those few seconds were for you.
The first time I saw Bobbys face without any tubes, I cried. It was so special.

Hang in there Mama, you are doing great.

She's beautiful. I can remember when emma was that tiny. Happy 1 month Elora. Yummy cupcakes for the nurses. If it makes you feel any better Emma had to start and stop feed 5 or 6 time before she continually stayed on feeds. It is a typically preemie issue.

Thanks everyone!

It's good to know that she's not the only one to stop and start feeds- it was making me nervous!

Oh I like that last pic with no tubes or anything. You can really see how cute her little face is. Now she just needs to keep growing! Keep your chin up mama, you're doing great. Let us know what we can do for you, even if it is just a place to vent when you aren't doing as well. You know, there are always the ups and downs.

She looks so tiny. What a sweetie.

My twins weren't that little but there was a micro baby in our room for a few weeks. I think he went from vent to c-pap back to vent at least once while we were there. The day we went home I heard the nurses talk about trying c-pap again (he wasn't gaining weight on it) so I think it's pretty normal to go back and forth.

She is sooo cute and does look bigger! I first thought that she was the same size as Shira (3-1/2 at birth) and had to double check what you said!
