Facts and Figures

I tested my blood again yesterday (day 17 after ovulating) and my hcg was 153, up from 47 three days earlier. So, if hcg is meant to double every 2 days, I am right on track! Yay! So reassuring.

Yesterday my preg symptoms seemed less. The day before I had tender breasts, and could feel my uterus. Today though, my breasts were super tender, and I can totally feel my uterus again. I even had some round ligament pain. I have been really tired, too. Yesterday was a killer day: a birth at 5 am, followed by clinic for 6 hours, a home visit, and then 4 hours as a volunteer midwife in a clinic for women without health insurance. I crawled home at 930 and fell into bed. AND is was super hot and muggy yesterday. Today was better, and I got a nap. Must make time in schedule for regular naps!

Thank you! I am off call for the rest of the weekend so can catch some rest.

Today's stat: 4-- the number of pees I had to take between midnight and 7 am.

WOW! I was only 2 times, but I am a "no pee" at night kind of girl. I'm really going to hate this once the school year starts. I teach in 90 minute blocks, so I don't have a break. We'll see what happens!

Well, my hcg from yesterday was 850, so doubling nicely. It was 153 5 days ago! Stick baby, stick!

Last night I went to bed at 1130 and woke up around 8. I got up to pee at 1240, 200, 440, and 730. It's like a nursing schedule!

on your numbers! I'm so glad for you

Just wondering - what's round ligament pain?

It is a pain that is like a side cramp or stitch of the ligaments that are attached to the sides of your uterus. I feel it when I move suddenly, and feel it on the inside of my hip bone. But I didn't feel it this early with my first or second, but I have more of a belly this time (before baby).

I did another hcg test yesterday, and got the results today: 7932. It's really happening!

Man, there are some definite perks to being a midwife, eh?

Glad to hear your numbers are getting fatter and fatter!

Perks, for sure! All-you-can-pee pee sticks and unlimited lab work!

I have to stop at some point, don't i?

"All-you-can-pee pee sticks and unlimited lab work!"

LOL, too funny!

Hey, I had round ligament pain the other day! I had no idea it could happen this early in pregnancy! Although, it is my fifth so I guess everything happens early!

Congrats on the numbers. Reassuring to see them going up so good.

Just a side note tho HCG can take longer than 24 hours to double.
For HCG levels <1,200mIU/ml, the expected doubling time is 48-72 hours.
For HCG levels 1,200-6,000mIU/ml, the expected doubling time is 72-96 hours.
For HCG levels >6,000mIU/ml, the expected doubling time is >96 hours.

Yes -- the typical doubling time is not 24 hours, but 48 or more, as you said. I was going on a 48 hour doubling time. There is an amazing website for calculating hCG doubling times I found, and my early hCGs were doubling every 41.4 hours, and now 51.6 hours: all normal, and very strong. Isn't funny how much we can get involved in the minutae of pregnancy signs and symptoms? :
