Yeah, I like carrying DD in my wrap better than in my pouch, and then DS still gets to sit in the cart...

Ugh! I'm so sorry to hear that. Get better soon.

Nevie is... well... ask me again in a few weeks. She just seems to fuss all the time and nurse all the time (sometimes even effectively...) Her last two diapers were mucousy (i think), so I called the clinic this morning. Basically I'm going to just keep an eye on it and call back Monday if no change. She doesn't have a fever or a sore tummy. I'll cut out dairy and see if that helps. No biggie. I like soy milk just fine.

Oooh sorry about the mastitis! that's horrible. I hope you feel better soon.

I just realized Ruby has thrush in her mouth AGAIN.. at least I'm free of it for now... back to the treatment!

Her fever was gone today, but she was super cranky, and very needy and she hasn't pooped all day. I fear this poop that's coming!!! I couldn't put her down all day (except once to go to the bathroom, and for 15 mins to fold some diaper laundry) I'm pooped. She of course wasn't soothed by daddy, so I was even on duty when he got home I'm pooped!! SHe's finally asleep now, and not in my arms... so I'm gonna post some new pix of her sweetness.

hannah was quite fussy today also.....just wanted to be in the sling, but i can't complain cuz she's not really fussy from 8pm-1am everynight like haleigh was the first 2 1/2 months!

Korin-- hope the thrush goes away soon!

Hi all! Time sure does fly by!! Kaleigh is getting bigger by the second. hubby is having a hard time with her since Abby was such a daddys girls, and Kaleighsthe opposite. She HAS to have her mommy. We are having awful fussy times at night, and unsure as to what it could be. Nothing seems to soothe her except a car ride, once in a while I can, but its getting harder. Shes not a real active baby, and seems to sleep a lot more than many babies, so it could be overstimulation or being overtired and having a hard time getting to sleep then. Any suggestions? She loves to watch the trees outside almost more than anything. She loves music. She has been pretty consistant and gotten into a pretty good routine, except when shes fussy. Last night we almost made it with her sleeping to miss the fussy time. She woke up a little later, ate, played, and then it hit. She still VERY stuffy and seems like suctioning isnt enough. Ped says its normal. Talked to them about her eyes, looks like snotty stuff, and doesnt always seem to produce tears, also not worried about that. I am though. I think she has a plugged duct, and need to look at getting a new Ped. Im just overwhelmed this time with this baby, but Im LOVING it. I wouldnt trade her or this experience for anything in the world.

One of the other MDC mamas suggested to me (when I was worried about Nevie's eye) to squirt a little breastmilk in it. I tell ya, it was magic. Worth a shot!
yes mikey wakes up with goopy eyes just about every morning. i squirt a little BM in there and poof! gone until the next day and sometimes even the next day he's fine. same thing with the stuffy noses mamas - just express some into a cup and use a little dropper to suck it back up and then squirt inside their noses (or if you can manage it squirt from boob into nose). it does wonders! also good for baby acne and diaper rashes...my dh keeps teasing me that if it's so great for everything, why isn't it getting rid of the thrush? - haha honey! but seriously, put that breastmilk on any problem areas, i'll tell you one thing it's not going to hurt and it will probably help!

Elijah giggled today! The first time he's actually giggled. And..it was a giggle. : He is also 7 wks old today. ::

We're here all weekend by ourselves. (Elijah, Marley, and I...oh..and the dog too) Dh is gone until late Sunday night. This should be rather interesting. It's the first time I'll be alone w/ the kids by myself for longer than like, 3 hours. Actually, I think my MIL is gonna come pick us up later and have us spend the weekend w/ them. (She lives like 25 min. away) Matt's lil sisters and brother LOVE playing w/ Marley. Especially his sister Jessi, she's only 11 and acts like Marleys little mommy when we're over there. I hardly see her at all when we're there. She wants nothing to do w/ me when she has JESSI to play with.

I already feel whooped though. I didn't get enough sleep last night which is my fault because I stayed up to watch Michael Moore's "The Awful Truth" that I got from the library. (Which was hilarious btw..but I only watched a little bit before going to bed.) The library is RIGHT down the street..it's awesome. I really enjoy reading new books w/ Marley so now we have an endless supply of new books to read.

Well I took one ibuprofen last night because the fever was making me too dizzy to walk around with the baby (fortunately we weren't home alone) and it sent my temp from 101.4 down to 96.3. Yikes. I guess it's because I hardly ever take OTC drugs anymore.

Breastmilk worked to clear up Aurora's gooey eye, even though erythromycin didn't do a thing for it. I'm guessing it wasn't caused by bacteria.

Hi everyone.. hope everyone is surviving their fussy babes or illnesses!

Gabriel is ten weeks, and is starting to come out of the evening fussy-phase. For everyone struggling with it, that book "Happiest Baby On The Block" by Dr. Harvey Karp really helps. Gabriel also goes through this thing about once a week where he doesn't poop for about twelve hours straight, and THAT makes him REALLY fussy! No illness or thrush, though, thankfully.

He loves to ride in the Hotsling now in the upright position, facing out. He won't do the newborn position anymore.

He sleeps for a good 4-5 hour stretch from about 8pm. Then he wakes every 2-3 hours till morning. He's up for the day around 6:30-7:00 for about an hour, very giggly and kicky and vocal, and then naps for about an hour or two.

I still have about 10 lbs. to lose out of the 40 I gained, and I tried my Winsor Pilates dvd yesterday, but it hurt a bit in my abdominal muscles. Oh well, I guess that's what a ten lb. babe and a 44" belly will get me. I guess I need a bit more time to heal. It still hurts a little when I sneeze or cough!

I too am a library nut. I love ordering books and movies and having them delivered. It so helps me relax with this cranky babe to have that endless supply!

Stacy, Sam loves being upright now too! If I try to shift her to the cradle hold after she's asleep, she immediately wakes up. Can't get anything by this kid!

My MIL gave us *another* box of 216 disposable diapers, this two days after I told her I was so glad we were almost out so that I could transition to cloth full time. She also said Sam should be sleeping through the night now, and I should just let her scream, and when I was wiping the dribbles out of Sam's neck (she HATES having her neck cleaned out) my ML said, "mommy, I wouldn't be fussy if you supported my head like you're supposed to." Please. She's 16wks old, and can pull herself up enough to get her shoulders off the floor. : I just wish MIL would A)listen and B)stop assuming she knows best how to take care of MY kids!!!

A ha! So HERE you all are

Wow! I drop off the face of MDC for a few weeks and bam! Our little ddc is all grown up and moved over to the baby section, wow!

I'll admit I'm totally cheating and posting before I read all the thread : but I just had to say hello while I knew I had the chance and before Max woke up again.

We're doing well. Max is sleeping pretty consistently at night so I don't feel like zombie mother as much ... He usually goes to sleep during the Daily Show at 11 (my standing "date" with Jon Stewart) and is up around 1:30 am and then again at 5 am sometimes for good and sometimes just for a little boobie breakfast and then back to sleep again for another few hours. He was 9 lb 15 at birth and up to 12lbs 4 oz at his 1 month ... I'm interested to see where he is at 2 months as he's quickly outgrowing his 0-3 mo. stuff

As I was skimming I saw a couple of posts about babes skipping poops for a day or two. Max is on day 2 of no poop but making up for it with the stinkiest farts a baby has ever made! (I seriously thought it was Chris last night!) We have a car trip tomorrow to make so I figure he'll probably decide to make like the play doh fun factory in the car somewhere along state road 31

Speaking of poop, I've been so bad & lazy w/ adjusting to cloth : In my defence he fit into none of the huge stash of newborn dipes I had and I only have one days worth of contours and prefolds ... so at night and some days he's been in disposables depending on how caught up w/ the laundry I am But, I'm accumulating more dipes so I am able to put him in cloth more often. Can I consider us slooooowly easing into it? : I guess old diapering habits are harder to break than I thought they would be... but I'm trying, honest!

Looking forward to catching back up w/ you all and these amazing growing babes! Every time I look at the bracelet on my wrist I think of our ddc and you mamas

PS - I've got pics on my xanga blog, but most are protected. If you've got a xanga username and want to see Max pics, leave me a note at my blog and tell me your from this ddc and I'll add you to my protected list.

best wishes!

Hi

Hi everyone!
I wasn't a part of the DDC, but I had my baby June 2006, so I'd like to join, if that's OK. My son Soren was born June 12. I'm wondering if anyone has read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Weissbluth? I read the Sears book (the Baby Book), and really liked a lot of what I read.

Now I'm wondering if I should worry more about when my baby takes naps, and putting him in his bassinet to sleep..? He normally takes his naps when I wear him in my sling, and we're cosleeping now. What do y'all think? Is that normal stuff for an almost 9 week old?

Ugh, I'm sorry! Does she realize what she's doing? I hope not! That's just rude.

EcoMama~I love the library too. I'm going into withdrawl b/c we moved so far out the library isn't a 10 minute drive anymore!

Evie's doing well. The last 2 days though her poop has been greenish with the breastfed yellow seediness mixed in. (sorry, probably tmi) I called her ped and he said not to worry about it b/c she gets about 6 oz. of formula a day. (I was on Reglan to up my supply and still can't get anything when I pump, she was loosing weight, so I had to supplement). I didn't realize formula could do that. It's some pretty nasty stuff.
We also bought a new carseat today b/c we're going to Charleston next weekend. She screams in her infant carrier, so in hopes of making her happy, we thought we'd try a 'plushier' one. It didn't help. I don't know what to do to make her happy in the car. Nothing helps. I've tried sitting back there with her, holding her hand, singing to her. Nothing I've done makes any difference. It breaks my heart to hear her cry so much!

My mom has called me mommy a few times when telling me what I should be doing with my first dd, and I find it so utterly patronizing that I want to hurt her. For example, we'll be at her house for dinner and a TV show will come on that SHE thinks dd should not see (people kissing, for cryin' out loud) and she'll say, "Mommy, I think it's time for Tania to go to bed." How irritating is that?
