June 2006 Mamas- here is a space! - Page 5

My husband gets so much attention when he wears Harper. The ladies ooh and ah! He usually prefers the OTSBH, but he'll wear my zolowear ring sling as well. They have a nightly walk when he gets home.

It's been so hot and gross here. The heat index is something like 115. I took her out this morning to go to LLL, and I sort of wish I hadn't because she got so fussy. I stripped her down and made sure to nurse her a lot in case of dehydration. We haven't been able to really go out during the day like we normally would.

We're at this new stage where she'll try to stay up longer but get cranky if she does, and it's driving me crazy during the day. Nights are still fine at least. To get her to nap during the day, I have to nurse her lying down. No more of that newborn "fall asleep every time you eat" business.

Anyway, that's about it over here. Still chipping away at the thrush. I'm now on a second course of antibiotics since the first one didn't work, so I am resigned that this will probably stick around til that's done. Glad to see everyone's doing well. I love the picture thread idea!

My dh Bob likes the baby bjorn (the male bra I call it) and he has used my new native once. The maya is too lady like for his liking so that wont work. But he will just carry his babies too and be happy.

I agree dh loves carrying the babies at the beach and likes the babes who come up to him

Just got the maya. Any interesting ideas for wearing?

Hi, mamas! Boy, Ive missed you! We're in between homes right now. LSS, we started remodeling our home in December. We moved into a rental, thinking the remodel would be done by June. Anyway, they didnt finish, STILL arent done, and now we're in a hotel since our lease was up July 31! Needless to say, two active boys and a newborn in a hotel room is difficult!!!!!!!!

Ellie is almost 7wks, and she's awesome. Rarely fusses (except she decided she HATES the car, ugh), and sleeps a lot. We're using sposies at the hotel, but I cant wait to get back to cding, she has a terrible rash from the plastic.

Gonna go back and read everyone's posts now....

Ryan took Ruby to the grocery store by himself a couple of weeks ago... and just ran in so he didn't sling her. She was alseep in his arms, and he bent down to kiss her as the checker was running the debit card.. and when he looked up, all of these women were sighing over him. I told him that at that moment, every woman in the store wanted to : him.

The antibiotics is what is doing it. Also cut out sugar from your diet for a week and eat yogurt and take probiotics. Also invest in the Grapefruit seed extract. Its the only thing that worked on Maggies' one month long thrush. The heat wave is not helping it either.

At first he didn't like it as much, but then we realized it was because he didn't know how to put the baby in it comfortably. Also once he realized the sling makes the baby go right to sleep and its easy to sneak out of it and lay the baby down without waking him, he was all about it.
That's cute.

My dh likes the legs-through-the-holes types of slings. They are easy to use, and they seem really secure. I don't think he could deal with a ring sling. And boy does he look cute wearing a baby! Hubba hubba!

Oh, yeah, I am really hating taking the antibiotics. I got a UTI that made a run for the kidneys (which I'm thinking is all related to the catheter from the stupid c-section, grrrrr!), so I have to finish them. We're keeping the thrush at bay with Nystatin, and I'm taking acidophilus and a blend of garlic and GSE and pau d'arco. We don't do dairy since it bothers her, so that leaves out my favorite sweeties anyway. Her white patches are gone now, but I still have the pink, ouchy nipples. Did I mention I hate antibiotics? I'm glad you were able to help Maggie, a whole month must have stunk!

oh my gosh, I feel for you! We were in a hotel for 2 weeks because of a flood when I was 36-38 weeks pregnant, and my biggest fear was bringing a baby back to the hotel (not to mention pulling off that homebirth I was planning, haha). I hope your construction wraps up quickly. This has been the year of housing snafus for us as well, and it is just so frustrating to be displaced.

this thread is making me !
i am not good at this babywearing thing. I asked some people on babywearing about making it work for me given Philip's casts and later his braces. So tomorrow I am 1) going to start eating lots of vegetables, my diet has sucked the last few days and I'm feeling guilty. Can you really build a baby with pizza?? and 2)make my maya rs work for me! I NEED to carry this baby!
Ok. Things are going well. My cracked nipple had almost healed, I then forgot to keep putting on canadian nipple cream, now it hurts again.

He's much better with the toddler+ set, where they can talk to you and you can communicate with them...he really is uncomfortable with crying and that worries me, but perhaps I'm just underestimating him..
I'm laughing... but not! I am kind of in denial but I think I will have a shocking awakening. I am glad to know I'm not the only one who is worried. My dh is all about kids when they get a little older-- he is not so into babies. I too hope I am just underestimating him.

I am actually trying to think of ways to stay out of work longer, or to work pt while dh works ft, but I don't think financially we can swing it. My earning potential is greater than his, we don't yet own a home and would really like to, the market is totally inflated, and I have $$$ in student loans.
It makes me sad.

Korin-- when my dh first fed Philip w/ a bottle of expressed breastmilk I was very sad too. I still am not used to it. The other day I gave him the rest of a bottle rather than waste 4 oz of breastmilk, and it made me want to cry.

Other than this, I am *so* in love with Philip! I'm working on hooking up w/ LLL and NINO, hoping that works out.
Do we have a picture thread yet?

Well, Evie had her 2 month check up today. She's holding her own with her weight and is 10 pounds, but she's almost off the charts with height at 23 1/4 inches. Guess she's going to be tall like us.

Her ped confirmed what I was fearing, we do have thrush. So, now we're going through the house washing everything and hoping we can get rid of it quickly. I called my m/w and she gave me some more suggestions to help me get rid of it.

Other than that we're good.

mikey's 8wk appt - 13#/11oz - 23 1/2" - it's all in the thighs ladies...you should see the rolls on this kid. he has outgrown the small fuzzibunz b/c of the thunder thighs!!

still battling minor thrush w/yogurt only, but i did get the rx of nystatin to keep on hand as a back up. i've gotten a small case of it myself, but not on the nipple - TBTG - instead it's right b/t my boobs...ugh. that's attractive me itching there every other minute...argh.

does anyone else experience this phenomenon? i swear i didn't with my 3 prior kids, but every time i burp mikey, i burp. isn't that odd?

Brad put a cloth diaper on Sam for the first time tonight (thanks, Lindsey!!). He was so cute and unsure of himself, and once he got the kissaluvs on and the cover, he looked at me and goes, "it's so SOFT! Why can't grownups wear stuff that soft? Can we get more of these?"

I swooned.
