Keeping a Healthy Weight! - Page 2

Well, I was supposed to run 13 miles over the weekend, but only got three in. Those three were pretty hard and I just was dragging the entire way. Oh well. Four miles planned for tomorrow and body buff class tonight.

Eating ok. If you don't count the Flips! I'm starting to crave tomatoes again!

I'm trying to decide if I should get rid of my scale. I don't obsess over it, but it seems like kind of a waste of time right now since I'm not trying to maintain any particular weight, but just grow healthily.... I guess I could just put it away and only pull it out when it's time to tell my mw how much I weigh. We spent both of my previous pregnancies guessing how much I weighed! I was actually pretty shocked when I stepped on a scale at a friend's house a coupla weeks pp. I think it went a little something like this: "Holy cannoli! If I'm still this big, I wonder how much I weighed right before birth!"

My vow to myself: "I will always love my bodacious bod, no matta what the scale says."

Hi ladies
well I am totally commited to being healthy this pregnancy, with my first I gained 75lbs and then two months later got pg with #2 and had only lost 20lbs from #1 so I gained another 30lbs with that one
so now 2.5yrs later I have lost it all plus another 10lbs I am the smallest I have ever been so I really really want to continue to work out and eat healthy this time
I have a cheat day once a week so I am going to continue that and do cardio 5x a week and weights 3x a week, I found a really good fitness orientated pregnancy site so I feel safe with the exercizes they are recommending plus they have video demonstrations too
be healthy!!

That's an interesting website. It looks like it has some good info on it, but I'm afraid it could turn someone obsessive. Plus, it has message boards, which are just bad for me.:

Went to body buff last night. It was a good class, but I felt kind of fuzzy throughout it. Not sure if that's just because I forgot my glasses or because I was too tired or what, but it was not pleasant. Might have been all the sugar I ate yesterday too. Like half a dozen cookies throughout the day, finished my Flips (really, I had to finish them so I would quit eating them) PLUS a piece of lemon cake.

My goal today is less sweets for sure and run 4.5 miles tonight. Hopefully, I'll be able to stay awake through the entire run.

This is such an important topic to me!
I am in pretty good shape ( I run, and I go to the gym a few times a week where I use elipticals, steppers, bikes, and do a bit of resistance training). With my first pregnancy I was just walking, but A LOT, and all I gained was about 25 pounds, which was all lost within three months of having my son. Second pregnancy however, I was in school full times and EXHAUSTED and I made EXCUSES not to work out, and I gained somewhere in the neighbourhood of .... 65 pounds!!!!!!!!

NEVER AGAIN! This time I'm determined to keep my weight gain within a reasonable area (20-30 pounds is cool with me). But I'm very paranoid about exercise, because I had a miscarriage in July. I know moderate exercise should not hurt a healthy pregnancy, but man, I'm freaked.

ANyway, I think I'll keep up with the gym, but maybe tone down my intensity some (I go pretty hard), and substitute fast walking for running. I will feel safer once I get past the sort of 6 or 7 week mark. Til then, I'm a basket case.

count me in! Last pregnancy I was superfit before and although I stayed exercising throughout it wasn't at the level I wanted it to be at. Also, I did eat healthy but I took to eating that extra stuff too much. I think this time I will focus more on getting in the good foods and just eating to hungry. I did lose the wait within a few months no problem and was exercising really well for a while.

Unfortunately though I had fallen out of the habit of exercising before this pregnancy. So, I don't know what is safe to start. I am thinking of checking out some pregnancy workout dvds, starting walking and perhaps taking a step class 1x a week or something.
