But boo hoo, I got so excited that I immediately put the diaper back on and missed the pee and the second poo while I was rinsing the sink out. At least I am starting to get an idea.

When you first started, did you just try to learn their patterns or did you start cueing right away? I cued when she poo'd in the sink but I didn't (obviously) when she pee'd and poo'd in the diaper since I was busy rinsing the sink.

BTW, the other baby is asleep. I figure to make this work, I will have to keep them on different schedules for now.

Congratulations! It's cool that you're trying this with your twins.

Dh and I always wait for the post-poo "cleansing pee." Don't know if all babes do this, but ours certainly does.

My dd always pees and poops at the same time (when I'm lucky enough to catch a poop. Still working on that.) But I don't know which comes first! I usually give her a little bit of time. She concentrates. When she turns her attention to something else or squirms, I know she's done.

Anyway, to answer your question. I did both: found the pattern and cued. When I would change a wet diaper, I would say to dd "Psss. You peed." When I would bring her to the potty, I would say the same, except I would make the cue sound first. If she peed, I say "You're peeing."
