Have I screwed it all up?

So...I've struggled with milk supply all along and am constantly worried that DD isn't getting enough. She's waking now at 10:30 pm after going to bed at 7:30. And she wakes up a couple more times in between. I can nurse her at 4:30 and she wakes up at 6:30 am wanting more and then, eats a whole carton of yogurt!! (She's 9mos.) SO....ANYWAY...I got this kick-a** virus the last two days and was almost passed out for the last 18 hours due to high fevers!! I didn't hear anyone coming or going, I was just on the couch shaking and aching and UGH....it was HORRIBLE. I nursed DD as long as I could, but yesterday, I missed her 4:30 pm feeding all the way through until this morning. DH gave her 4 bottles!! While I appreciated the help, and don't feel like I could've done any better, I'm worried about what the consequences will be. What do you guys do in that situation? I couldn't even MOVE to be able to pump, so...what are your suggestions? I'm sure I'll have supply issues for the next couple days because of it. Not to mention that I don't know if my body was even producing much milk during all that. I was TERRIBLY thirsty and drank gallons of water, but never had to pee (TMI, I know). : :

I'm no expert but I'd assume you'll be fine. My supply varies a ton. Milena just nurses like crazy to pull more in during the low times. Other times, its flowing out and dripping everywhere.

I had AF come back at like 2 months postpartum which is just LAME. every time around AF my milk goes down etc. I'd just let her nurse a lot and it should come back up.

And of course, you could always eat lots of oatmeal which would prolly be good for you right not as you heal anyhow.

If you like beer and you feel well enough, that brings it in for me too. If I have one dark beer at night, I'm engorged in the morning. Not everyone on this site will like that advice, but according to my research its safe to drink alcohol in moderation while nursing. And Ive read mixed things about whether or not it brings in more milk, but its DEFINETLY been my experience. something about the hops in beer.

Just reread your post and that you are struggling with supply issues already.... I'm sure you know all the stuff I posted already. DOH. I should read more closely.

Regardless, you did the best you could. And I still believe you can bring your supply up, etc.

Best of luck to you!

Like you said you may have supply issues for a couple days but just lying around nursing and recovering should do the trick. I have struggled on and off with supply problems with all three of my kids and they always seem to bring my supply back around with some extra nursing. You can't help being sick and you needed to rest. Make sure to offer often during the next week to get things back on track.
Feel better.
