baby's bottle pref is latex- should I be concerned??

hey there,
as some of you know, my DD is a BF fiend and refuses all bottles we've tried. We tried Avent, Dr Browns, Soothie, Playtex Natralatch. We even shelled out the $18 for the Adiri Breastbottle nurser which was a total failure.

My mom was on me to try the Playtex Natural Action nipple. Its the one she used with me when she gave me EBM back in 1978! latex, old school square nipple, on the "not recommended" lists for breastfed babies now because the latch is not the same as BF etc etc etc. I kept telling her that, but on a roadtrip we found some at a busted up old Rite Aid and tried it. And its the only one she'll take! I couldnt believe it.

My DD is a nursing pro. I really can't imagine anything confusing her with BF. I guess its possible that she'll continously forget how to latch on the bottle at first?? Right now, she only takes it from me and if I nurse her and then slip it in.

I am going back to work just 2 days a week so its not like she'll have these bottles 24/7, but my concern is that the nipple is latex. and also the latch issue.

Should I be worried, or just count my blessings that she'll take the darn thing?

XOXO

I say count your blessings! I tried that nipple too (since my mother used it with my sister) and still didn't have any success.

Since she is past the age where babies get nipple confusion/preference then I wouldn't worry.

As for the latex nipple, Playtex may manufacture the same style nipple in silicon. I think that the rule is to watch out that the latex isn't showing any signs of breakdown cuz thats when the rubber starts leaching.
