I'm ready too! Since my OB and doula are back from vacation this baby is welcome to come at any time!

I've still got 2.5 hours until it is August here. My heart starts pounding when I think about it! But, I am sure I'll be ready when the time comes. I just can't believe I will be able to say--I am having the baby THIS month!!

I've still got an hour until august. I am so excited. I just had my 38 week checkup today and opted for a vaginal exam because I wanted to know how things are going. Turns out my cervix is 40% effaced, my cervix is soft, but not started dilating yet, so the nurse said it's good progress for now. The baby's heartrate was 132 and I've gained exactly 20 pounds so far. We went over my birth plan and all is good, I left them a copy.
I still have to buy some food for labor and to pack the hospital bag and burn a few cd's to bring along, so I guess I'm not quite ready yet.

Hey, I was hoping since it's only 3:30am to be able to start the August chat thread! You guys are up late!!

BTW -- WATER JUST BROKE --

I had a goal of finishing our Hawaii trip scrapbook for the boys before the new baby. I finished at 10:30pm last night. Whew!

No contractions yet, and it's been 12 minutes. Amazing. You just never know. Haven't called the midwife, though my husband's itching to!

I'm guessing since it's been almost an hour and still no big contractions that this labor is going to be different, just like the whole pregnancy.

Who here has labored with/given birth to a posterior baby? What should I expect? Kinda late to be asking, but what else do I have to do right now?? I don't want to start walking and stuff until a little later in the morning, to let everyone else get their sleep! So I'm hanging out here!

Okay, this is crazy. It's been 2 hours.

I've had an apple and a bagel w/ soy cream cheese and tomato.
TMI: diarrhea an hour ago.
Unloaded the dishwasher and walked around a bit.
Took chunk of frozen baby shower cake out of freezer and put in fridge to defrost.
Got a big stack of cloth wipes wet and put away ready for use.

Twiddling my thumbs. It's starting to get light out.

I'm very much ready!!

Spent the weekend babysitting for my four month old niece with my husband and it's made me more eager than ever to meet my baby! I'm SO looking forward to it. I'm not due until the 31st but everyone thinks he's going to make an appearance before then, we'll just have to see.

Hurray for August!

A couple contractions.
Another trip to the bathroom.

I can't believe it's supposed to be around 100 degrees for two days here. Ugh. Guess I shouldn't give birth outside then!

Hourly update : contractions, but nothing I can't talk through, maybe every 5-10 minutes. I've had some toast, made a couple more trips to the bathroom, and folding laundry to pass the time. The boys are up and fed. This is all just sooo different!

Yay Vegan!

My water broke early last time, too, and I remember being all disappointed that nothing happened for HOURS.

Good luck if you're still reading! Try to get some rest!

As far as I'm concerned, my baby needs to hold off till at least the 9th, since my final presentation for the summer semester is on the 8th.

Good luck veganf!

I've been ready for this kid for 3 weeks. Yesterday I went crazy doing weird cleaning. I rearranged the little medicine cabinet in the downstairs bathroom, cleaned the office and shredded papers, and did a mega cleaning of the living room, including the shelves on the lamps that had oj and cheerios all over them (thanks, DD). I crashed around 4pm, but of course I still didn't sleep well. Oh well.

Midwife's on her way. She figured she better come earlier to miss traffic.

I'm laboring to Thomas the Tank Engine music now, thanks A.J.

Can't talk (or type) through the peaks anymore, but really not bad at all so far compared to my other labors!

It's listed as the 22nd here (didn't bother changing it), but the midwife's official EDD is the 20th. Yahoo!'s calculator says the 23rd.

But today was the day my midwife and I "decided" on at my last appointment, LOL.

Midwife and 3 of her kids just arrived (the other midwife left for vacation today, so she brought her 20 year old daughter to assist her, and her 12 year old daughter to babysit her 1 year old who is currently outside). What a fun time this is going to be!
