Mariposa, I keep forgetting to tell you how much I love love your sling pics! This baby is the first one I've used a wrap sling with, and it's so great! I love the rucksack back carry with him.

I personally believe it's largely luck. We have AP'd all of ours and Ben is our first easy one.

it is always hot in the summer here, but we have A/C and are used to it. i feel so bad for those who aren't. especially if you don't have A/C. s

as for more, we are done. i would love 2 more, but DH is done he says and i don't want to pressure him into more. i would love for him to change his mind, but that is unlikely. i am blessed with 2 beautiful girls, so i am happy.

abby got her ears pierced yesterday. she is 4. she didn't flinch or even cry. she has wanted them for awhile now, but i wasn't sure about it. was hoping she was a little older before she really decided she wanted them, but DH thought she was ready and she was super excited. they do look cute!

I'm a newby

Hi everyone! Seems like everyone knows one another, but thought I'd join in anyway. Our DS Deacon will be 5 months on the 14th and is growing like a weed. Last dr. visit he weighed 18.5 pounds and is still exclusively bf. He is DYING to try real food, though. I let him mouth plums and nectarines and he cries when I take it away. I'm trying really hard to wait until he's six months old, but he may steal my food before then...

He just started to crawl last week, but he looks like a soldier cresting the beach in Normandy...it's sort of an elbow/limp leg slither. VERY cute when he does it with his little grunts of effort. We bought him really cool wooden toys, but he has no interest in those. Instead he wants power cords, books, remotes and cordless phones. Even if we turn him around he'll circle back to get whatever it was he wanted. Very determined young man.

Well, Leo survived his first roll off the bed--didn't even cry. We heard a thump from upstairs and went up to investigate--I found him propped up on his elbows checking things out. I think he wanted to get down on the floor

Time to put up the second bed rail...

My dd FINALLY rolled over. She went from her back to her stomach. But once she gets on her stomach she cries because she doesn't know how to get back on her back.

thanks!! i love the back wrap cross carry and front wrap cross carry. i think mimi is still too little for a good rucksack carry. i prefer tibetan though because i am not a fan of backback straps.

i am so addicted to wraps, with abby, i loved cloth dipes, but i have lots from her so this is my new love. nice and useful as well.

We're crawling backwards here! Haven't managed to move forward very much.

Mine did the exact same thing, for about a week. Then yesterday, she rolled onto her tummy . . . and promptly rolled back again.

Welcome! There's a reason it's called an army crawl. Ben is the same way about food these days and I'm trying to hold him off - 2-1/2 more weeks!

Our bed is on the floor but Ben was still *furious* when he rolled off. Not hurt at all, just really really mad.

Well, things have definitely changed a lot these past few weeks. Scarlett is getting so good at sitting up! I was very surprised when I sat her up and let go. She started to tilt towards one side, but then managed to pull herself back to center. The balance this little thing has is amazing!

She was one of those babies that would roll from belly to back pretty early (starting at 3 weeks, if you can believe that) but then after around 10 weeks stopped doing it and has only done it once since! Sometimes when she is lying on her back she rolls up onto her sides, but hasnt yet gone all the way over.

She likes to stand up if she is holding onto hands or the couch.

All of a sudden, she has been screeching! It doesnt appear that she is angry or anything like that, I think that either she is trying to get our attention, or she just likes the noise. Still trying to decode it. DH and I were in tears over it, because her little arms will shake feriously when she does it, and it just looks too cute!

We had her weighed about a 3 weeks ago and she weighed just under 14lbs, and was 23 inches. She is pretty short, but so are we so its to be expected.

We arent really considering solids yet. She likes to put everything in her mouth, but it doesnt seem to matter what. We want to hold off for as long as possible.

Oooh, what's your favorite wrap? I have a Moby, but my birthday's in a few weeks and it would be a good time to get a less stretchy wrap.

do you want to stick with a stretchy one or go more non-stretch? gypsymama balibaby stretch is really nice, as is the hotmama from mom and me creations. is your baby heavy? i have heard that stretchies aren't as great for heavy kids.

for non-stretch, i love my didymos indios. they have lots of give, are beautiful and super comfy. cost a lot, but have good resale value and are totally worth it just because you are wearing your baby!! i also love my colorgrown didymos lars stripe. so soft and comfy. storchenwieges (spelling?) are very well made as well. i have an inka and love it so much. i would have to say my very favorite would be a didymos indio, but for heavy babies, a lot of people like storches.

have you ever checked out babywearers.com?

http://www.thebabywearer.com/forum/f...splay.php?f=58 is a great forum for choosing a carrier.

www.attachedtobaby.com is a great place to buy new wraps. angela has the best customer service. (and she used to be in minnesota!!) the FSOT board on babywearer is great, too!! you can find used wraps there.

let me know if you have any questions. i would love to help you!! i am mariposamama over there on TBW.

I was reading in one of those babys first year books ( I know I shouldn't but I just can't help myself). Anyway, it said that a baby should reach out to be picked up and they should do that at like 4 1/2 months. My dd doesn't do that. I try to put my arms out and see if she will do the same but she just looks at me and smiles. I was just wondering if anyone elses dd or ds reaches to be picked up?

Nope, not at all. Not even close.

OMG the screeching!! DH says it sounds like Wild Kingdom in our house. He lets out these loud, sudden, joyful shrieks and then launches into long conversations of grunting and babbling punctuated by more screeches. And I SWEAR he says "haaaaaiiiiiiiYA!!!!" and latches onto the boob like a pirahna. We had to leave 2 restaurants on our vacation because he was so LOUD!! At least he was happy and not crying! He ffinally found his giggle too - its so cute. DH pretends to play him like a piano on his belly and he laughs so hard, its just hilarious!

cute on the screeching. my daughter grunts. or maybe it is more like vocalizing but she lowers her voice and is like "uhhhhhhhhhhhuhhhhhh". soo funny.

this age is when they really start getting fun! our 4 year old is so happy she gets to play with her more. (that will probably end when she learns to crawl and gets into her toys!)
