i know what you mean about feeling uncomfortable when other people call your baby you name before they are born, it almost made me feel violated when my mom did it last time (and i LOVE my mom)

anyway
this one is a boy i think...
phoenix asheton blue (2 middle names)

the baby told me his name was phoenix
my dh and i fell in love in asheville, nc and always wanted to use it in a name (ashely, which i do LOVE, is just too common so dd did not get it)
and then i realized that when i thought of my little boy, all i wanted to call him was blue. baby blue.
my dh thinks that is too many names, and i told him, "great, then next time you give birth you can name the baby as many names as you want."

ha
case closed.

ps my dd's name is ellaina grace (she also told me her name before she was born)

: : : Love it........! And, it's even funnier cos it's true!!

I think Phoenix Asheton Blue is a fantastic name!! Not too many names at all, I was always keen on the idea of 2 middle names if it seemed right for baby. And I love the name Blue, an extended family members middle name is Blue, I always thought it was nice.

thanks rainbow'smum!!!
i love it too!

it always makes me wonder when women let their dh's pick or have final say over the baby's name.
i mean come on,
preg for over 9 months + days of labor + years of nursing + a life time of body changes....
all they do is provide the sperm, and that is the easy part!!

love my dh, love and respect him
BUT i have the babies and i get to decide what they are called (open for suggestions mind you, but it is i who names them)

I think most DHs do a whole hell of a lot more than just provide the sperm. Well at least mine has/will. I think that the more you treat your DH as a partner in the parenting process the more willing and desirous of being an active participant in the process they will be, even when it comes to naming. Yeah, they aren't pregnant for 9 months and don't breastfeed, etc. but the 9 months of pregnancy and the few years of breastfeeding are only a small part of the entire lifespan of parenting.

ANyway, I don't know why I picked up on this, but just wanted to share my thoughts.

We're going with Matthew Peter or Lauren Rose.

Both of us have unusual names, and DH insisted on names he/she won't be picked on too easily.

Hmmm I totally don't understand the final say thing at all. I'm all open for suggestions but yeah. My stepfathers Mother named his brother a name she hated because her MIL wanted him to be named that.... I honestly don't get why you would name your child something you hated!! She can't even call him by his proper name because she hates it that much!!
