Well, he's still wedged in there pretty tight - and none too happy about it. I thought he was going to try and kick his way out today! Ouch!

Almost 24 hours after Nate's birth, I'm starting to feel somewhat human again. The boys LOVE their new brother, and my husband is out at a quick meeting that he had to cancel yesterday, obviously.
Nate has so far refused to nurse on my left side, only on the right. 3 tar poops, 1 pee, and tons of cute grunts and little noises.
I think I've had 2 hours of sleep, and right now I'm doing laundry and dishes. All that frozen food is REALLY coming in handy!!

He's 2 weeks old now and has finally passed his birth weight. He still seems so tiny but that's good since this is my favorite stage. When they get a little older I sometimes think I will give them up for adoption.
: Not that I don't dearly love dd but she is trying my patience very much! She likes to "beep" ds's nose and tell me that the bears on his clothes or the tiger on his blanket say"grrr". She's doing good for being 14 months and having a new baby displace her though. I am feeling rather crazy though. I hope it isn't bad to sit her in front of the VCR to watch videos of church services so I can use the computer, pick up the house or just sit and cuddle ds. Good thing she likes music so well.

The midwife put some blankets and towels in the washer, but apparently forgot to start the load before she left (I think she was waiting to fill it up with more stuff). So that night I told my husband to make sure the wet stuff in the washer gets put in the dryer; it's 100 degrees out and I don't want wet items getting moldy. Well, he put the stuff into the dryer....dry...dirty...covered in blood and meconium
. So the next morning I go to remove the stuff from the dryer, and hopefully you can understand why I'm the one doing the laundry. Dishes he only screws up minorly; last time I let him cook he lit a cutting board on fire.On a cuter note...A.J. didn't see the birth, but came in shortly after, crawled onto the couch to check out Nate, and said, "Hi Baby Nate! Me A.J.! Pway choo choo twains?"
I doubled my sleep last night to about 4-5 hours, woo hoo! (by only letting my husband get 6 hours, down from his 7 hours the first night
: ).And Ryan has given up naps. So while A.J. and Nate are napping, Ryan and I will be baking chocolate chip cookies.
There's no resting with a house full of boys!!!
My mother is closing on her new house tomorrow, and my MIL will be visiting for the day (but staying at my SIL's house), so I think we'll order out pizza because I don't think I want to make dinner for everyone
: . But friends are going to start bringing food this weekend and next week, whew! And Nate decided to nurse on both sides starting last night, and we're into transitional poop already now, thank goodness.

My husband (and my MIL) have both separately earned their nicknames "the absent-minded professor". Just moments ago I came downstairs to put dirty diapers in the laundry room; I had let him make pasta for dinner (but I made the sauce first, then went back upstairs). sooooo, I just put some dirty dishes next to the sink, right next to where I had left out the collander for him to drain the pasta. Did he use it? Or any of the 3 collanders we own??? No. He used the salad spinner

Domestic tasks are utterly beyond his comprehension. But he has incredible people skills and is great at his job, and I knew the man was a total space-cadet when I married him! But he is the least observant person I've ever met, but so are most men I suppose.
SIGH.

((((3 angels))) the nicu is hard. I hope your little guy comes home soon. Aaron was on O2 for quite awhile and he ended up being the guy who came home first. He spent 11 days in the nicu, which I'm sure sounds like forever right now
He also wasn't allowed to eat for a few days either. He had a feeding tube for a few days. We did have a bit of diffaculty nursing in the begining but we're doing tons better now. He's still pretty pokey and unlatches more than I'd like.
For pumping all that milk. Even with the hospital grade pump I couldn't pump that much. My milk did't really "come in" unitl A came home. I had milk before then but they day he came home I "filled up" and started leaking everywhere
We had the visiting nurse again today. Dominic weighed 5lbs 3ozs and Aaron weighed 5lbs 11ozs. She said they're gaining great and we don't need her services anymore

My milk came in full force yesterday, and it's been pretty painful (I never leak, I just keep filling up though). Add to that the stress of my husband leaving for a 16 hour work day today, my mother moving into her new house yesterday, and my MIL coming over this afternoon, and I'm just crossing my fingers that I don't end up with plugged ducts again. I got them frequently with Ryan whenever anything stressful happened (usually my husband leaving for a trip or my mother visiting
: )How's breastfeeding going for everyone else out there with new babes??

Then I go to put A.J. down for his nap, and I left Nate in his basket. I told her to pick him up if he started crying. So I come back downstairs to the sound of a screaming newborn and she's sitting on the floor with Ryan playing trains two rooms away and says, "someone's not happy!"
:And then my mother came over too and I had to make dinner for everyone. And of course Nate woke up right as I brought the food out to the picnic table so everyone ate without me and when I finally did get to eat A.J. was hungry againand ate half my dinner. SIGH.
So instead of people bringing me food as promised (at least 10 people swore they'd bring meals over, but I haven't seen 1), I've been cooking extra to bring to my mother because she literally forgets to eat. Ugh.
Since Nate's birth, my husband has had a nap, but I haven't. And he got 9 hours of sleep last night. And he twisted his ankle trying to mow the lawn, so now I am stuck with that task too.
Yesterday while my husband was at work, I took out the trash and recycling, did the laundry, cooked every meal, cleaned the kitchen floor, washed all the dirty diapers...just generally did all the stuff my husband was ignoring because he was "too tired". Thank goodness Nate is a good sleep and an easy baby! (knock on wood)
On the bright side, my bleeding has almost stopped ALREADY
: . Crazy, since I bled for at least 4 weeks the other times.I took some homeopathic phytolacca decandra to stave off any plugged ducts and it seems to be working. But I can't believe how strong a letdown I'm having this time; it's painful! And of course I've never leaked ever, so it just creates pressure on the other side.
How are everyone's babies sleeping? I can't believe how much Nate sleeps. I've never had a baby before who sleep so much. He's literally awake for maybe 20 minutes in a 24 hour period. It seems abnormal to me!
