OMG, vegan, I just can't fathom how mad I'd be if I opened up the dryer to a mess like THAT. ew.

And that you're mowing the grass! Does this man wash your feet when you're done, at least?!

Glad to hear your babies are doing good and growing, Azriel.

it's good to hear about birth weights of your babies.

calliope was born at 6lb 8oz.

she dropped to 5lb 8oz at two days.

now we are trying to figure out how to get the wee one to eat more.

we tried to breast feed for 5 days but due to breast surgery, i can't breast feed more than a few drops a suck.

then we tried the bottle for 3/4 day. she didn't like it at all and only wanted my boob.

now we are trying to give her at least 1 oz every two hours with the supplemental nursing system. it just sucks and makes me weepy. she seems to like it.

she did more than 1 oz at the first feeding.

i'm supposed to do 2 more and call the midwife at 5 for more analysis and instructions.

gotta buck up and get taped back into the system for round 2.

thanks for starting this thread. i had a feeling birth would be smooth, gentle clear and wonderful. i was afraid post-birth is where all would be complicated and not bad, but just new and challenging.

love to you all.

Henry dropped to 5lbs 15oz when they couldn't feed him yet. I was so happy when the nurse informed me that he had started gaining again! Almost all of them drop in the first week or so I think, NICU or not.
I'm just so greatful I got to hold him. It's hard to feel like a mommy when you can't hold or nurse or take care of him, I can't WAIT to do all of the stuff you guys are talking about! Hopefully just a few more days!!
After Henry's feeding today while I was rocking him to sleep, he farted really loud and I said "Yay! He farted!" because I am just so happy to see him digest the breastmilk I have been working so hard trying to keep up for him.

Ursula Rose, I'm so sorry feeding is so tough for you I hope you feel that you're getting good advice from your mw & know about all of the other resources out there (LLL, LC, etc). Also, there is a "BFing Challenges" forum here & I know there are lots of moms who have had breast surgery there

Pretty much all newborns lose weight in the first few days. Nate was 8lbs4oz. He was weighed yesterday at 6 days old and was back up to about 8lbs1oz.
