When did this forum get here?

I just found this forum today by using the "New Posts" feature. When did it get created?

Quite recently, after we were kicked out of the special needs forum.

Yeah, about a week ago I think.

I remember noticing it right after the server change (along with the NICU subforum in LWAB).

I always refused to participate in the special needs forum as it seemed so terribly wrong to have the gifted thread there. I'm so happy to see a dedicated forum for giftedness. If my smilies were working, I'd use the thumbs up.

I know that gifted IS special needs, but apparently people are offended by that reality. I just hope they'll let us alone here.

I just thought I would add my two cents that the Council for Exceptional Children, one of the major special ed organizations in the USA, does consider giftedness a special ed. http://www.cec.sped.org/am/template.cfm?section=Home But, it is a touchy situation and having a gifted child is very different from having one who has difficulty functioning.

Please don't start that drama here. Feelings are still *very* hurt, and comments like that in a support forum aren't going to give it a positive feel.

Thanks for sharing that link! I didn't have a huge look around, but I've seen other links which address how giftedness can impact a child's life so much that they have great difficulty functioning (obviously in a different way to other kids with special needs).

Not always; there are gifted children who have difficulty functioning.
