3cm dialated and 50% effaced-can I start to get excited?

Hi girls,

I went for my checkup today and that's the scoop-3cm and 50% effaced. I was induced with DS, so I've not gone into labor on my own. Can I start to get excited or am I jumping the gun???? I may just break our dry spell and indulge DH tonight to see if that gets things going...

Yes orally works better, so they say.

My mw was five cms dilated for five weeks before she gave birth.

With ds, I was checked the 1st time at 38w and was 3cm and 90% effaced and water broke 5 days later.

This time, I was 3cm and 50% at 37 weeks and I'm now 39w along and 4cm, 60% effaced.

So, it could be anytime and it could be awhile. But, one GREAT thing about where you are right now - you're already 3cms dilated - it's that much you don't have to go when the time comes.

Yes, that progress is a great thing!!

I have been hanging out at 3cm. for a few weeks now, but it is encouraging because I never made it past 2cm with my first.

I read that about oral prostaglandins and have been taking my daily dose for over a week now. Not that I really want to have a homebirth today in our non a/c house, but still... *lol*

Thanks for the encouragement-my doc was funny, she said she was on call this weekend. I was at 2cm with DS for about a month, so who knows what will happen?

My m/w told me the same thing about this weekend! (she doesn't know of our UC plans) She is also on call tomorrow, but told me she will see me this weekend, so I wonder...

Yes. After my DH read that article guess what he's been suggesting to try and be 'helpful?' Gotta love that man for trying!
