anyone made a tee pee play tent?

Hi there,

I'm interested in making a tee pee play tent for my daughter. I was wondering if anyone has ever made one before. If you have, I would really appreciate some pointers as I've never attempted any project quite this big before. Thanks so much,
Maria

I've not made one myself, but I did watch my dad make a full size teepee for camping. He used an old parachute from the army-navy store and cut a wedge out so that it fit like a cone around some stripped trees he cut down. I think for a child size play tent you could use something like a hippie skirt pattern and leave one side seam open part way up to make the door. For the poles you should be able to find dowel rods you can cut to length and bind them together at the top with rope or connect them with screws for a more permanent teepee. I think the best material would be canvas or something like it. Hope this helped a little, just some ideas.

Terrific Teepee This is the one I used (just finished it in the last two weeks and my kids love it. If I wasn't so PG I'd climb in there with them. It was REALLY easy to follow the instructions I just needed a fair amount of room to lay out the fabric to cut it (there were five panels to cut). My Mom has been here this week and they've had story time with all three of them in there.
