Are rice cookers usually aluminum?

It just occurred to me the other night that all my efforts for getting rid of aluminum and teflon in our house may have been thwarted by my rice cooker. I know no one can tell me if my rice cooker specifically is aluminum or teflon, but does anyone know if that is typically the case? I can't tell for sure with mine, maybe someone has advice on how to tell....?

No one knows? Maybe I will email the company and see what they say, hopefully I will get an actuall answer instead of them skirting the question.

Wow, that was a quick answer! Zojirushi emailed me back already. (well, I had emailed them earlier than my pp)
We have the NHS 10 cup rice maker. Here is their response;

Dear Leah,

Thank you for your inquiry. The pan is made of aluminum and is coated with a non-stick substance called sumiflon, made by a company out of Japan called Sumitomo, Ltd.

I am so bummed it is aluminum, I dont know anything about sumiflon though. Anyone know if there are rice cookers that are not made with aluminum or whatnot?

I think there was a thread a while ago about aluminum rice cooker pots.

I would love to get one that is not aluminum or nonstick. I really don't think onr exists.

I did some searching on google for non-aluminum rice cookers or stainless steel liner rice cookers and found one on the Miracle juicer website. It's the Miracle Rice Cooker and it's only $80. Well, I say only, b/c I have been looking at a lot of rice cookers this morning and saw tons of them for over $100, even over $200!:

Oh, no. I hadn't thought of that. My mom's is plastic, which I don't like, but maybe mine is aluminum. It feels like it has a coating. Ack! Must. do. research.

Okay, I'm back. I think mine is non-stick aluminum.

We bought it at an international foods market "Jungle Jim's" in Ohio about 13 years ago. It was a huge investment for two grad students. I gave one to my bestfriend for her wedding gift and she never used it, as far a I could tell. I bet she knew it was aluminum. She always ate organic foods, etc, long before I understood what it all meant.
