Because my water broke
And contractions have started.
And they're coming pretty fast, so we're taking the kids to grandma's...

A Boy!!

It's a BOY!!!! :

Ethan John was born in the water at 1:11 am on Thursday August 3. Little stinker weighed 10 lbs 9.4 oz! I was and am still in shock. Everyone is well, thankfully, as the actual delivery was a little more excitement than we were hoping for. He had a tight nuchal cord, which they had to cut before he could be delivered. Getting him out required a change of position, but it worked. When we got him out of the water his cord was somehow not clamped, and nobody knew when that had happened or how much blood he'd lost. So someone hit the panic button, and 973 residents/pediatricians/assorted others came in to assess the situation. It went really well, though, and all they gave him was a little oxygen. His Apgar went from 3 to 8 in the first minute

We're home now and trying to get everyone settled in. I'll post a full birth story with all the gory details (I remember yelling some pretty interesting things) and pics later on. Now I'm taking my 2yo for a much-needed nap.

Congratulations to you and your family! And welcome Ethan!

What's more shocking...that it's a boy, the nearly 11lbs, or that he's finally here? Great job!

Can't wait to here about the interesting things that you yelled!
