limbo

Hi,
I was just wondering if any of you had hints, tips, or activities for getting through the period of limbo before starting treatment. In our case, we're looking at about a year before we get in to see a urologist who may or may not fix dh's varicocele, and from there we get to go to an RE or fertility clinic. The wait just seems endless, especially when we thought we'd have a babe in arms by this point. So, I am going to loose what little I have left of my mind and would like to prevent that. How? What can we do now to make the wait easier? We're active, hike a fair bit, swim, and spend time with friends. I'm getting back into ballet in the fall. It just feels like there isn't enough to distract ourselves, and really, I don't think distraction alone is the healthiest approach. I am more than open to any sort of suggestion. What worked for you?
TIA

I think many of us have found accupuncture to be very calming- I know I have. Not only is it good for fertility but it can also help your whole body to be as harmonious as possible. I honestly felt like I was "on the right track" after the very first session.
Maybe you could also look at this time as a period for you to do some things that won't be so easy ( or darn near impossible!) to do after you have your child. We are doing a bit of traveling, cleaning the cellar, and digging a new garden. Hang in there!

Could you learn to sew, knit or crochet? I find crocheting to be very therapeutic. Start with non-baby items just so you don't have to look at them for the next year, though.

I'm sorry you have to wait so long!!

Katia,

Another suggestion - I used to do a lot of cross stitch, and I found it very relaxing and therapeutic. I also made a lot of really nice gifts!

Acupunture, massage, anything that will help keep the stress levels down is well worth it too. Also regular yoga or exercise.

I am sorry you have to wait so long as well. Hoping the time goes faster than you expect.
