i was wondering how long your child used them for? did anyone use them to relactate? i was ill for the first month to month and a half my son was born and i was just so tired that i could barely hold my head. i ended up giving him the bottle only. now i am trying to relactate and am debating getting an sns. i saw one cheap on ebay. ($15 after shipping costs) im thinking of getting it but dont know if its worth it. its a medela so its a good brand and the ad says they only used it a few times. i can always sterelize it so im not concerned about that. i just dont know if its really worth it. everyone on the breasfeeding board says its great. i asked my sister (whos got three kids) she says that she doesnt know if it will do much good since chase has a great suck already and knows how to nurse and latch on. if its not going to be benefical then i really dont wanna spend the money on it. thanks for any advice and input. oh and by the way i plan to speek with a LC on monday and ask her opinion as well.

It will help boost your supply, and your son will be able to get breastmilk from sucking at your breast exclusively. I'd strongly recommend you buy a new SNS, or at least new tubing. You can buy it cheaply at WIC, I'm sure, or order it through a local pharmacy that sells medela products. I'd also suggest you ask your doctor about a prescription for Reglan or Domperidone. Then have a nurse in. As soon as you get the SNS, don't use any bottles until you can breastfeed without having to supplement in the SNS.

Ah, well, better than nothing! Be sure to get a good pump, then, and if grandma can, have her bring the baby during your breaks so you can nurse then. GOOD LUCK!

Well good for you hon! Let me know how it goes! I've had to battle low supply issues, and it can be rough, but IMO, using the SNS was sooo much easier than using bottles.

I used an SNS for 13 months due to a low supply. I finally got her off of it and I am still BF'ing although she also gets milk.

Buy a new one. They aren't expensive. I believe that they are cheaper then what you saw on eBay. There are a couple of different options you have. If you aren't going to use it much, you could do the starter (which is what I used) http://www.medela.com/NewFiles/specialtyfdg.html or go for the more permanent option. Look around on the web. You will find them being sold all over.

It will be benficial to you because the baby will get the formula and some of your milk. The stimulation will help you produce more.

Good luck!
