quick ques. about the what comes after IUI

Am I assuming correctly that IF they find suitable follicles and give me my HCG shot and do the IUI that I will probably also have to take Progesterone?
If so, is this in injection form? How many times will I have to take it?

Got my u/s on Sunday at 10:30am...that's CD 10... (they finally listened to me and will check me earlier than cd 14).... I'm trying not to get my hopes up....yet I'm trying to be as optimistic as possible. Let's hope the higher dose of Clomid gets everything in gear!!

I was never given progeseterone after my IUIs (even with clomid and profasi). I would think it would depend on if your progesterone levels were typically low or not. For me, the reason my progesterone levels were low before I ever took clomid was because I wasn't ovulating. After clomid made me ovulate, my progesterone went right up to where it should have been. So, for many people, clomid alone raises your typical progesterone levels.

HTH!

I got the shots, then suppositories after all of my IUI's, but my clinic was just weird that way. It is apparently done as a way of helping ensure success, although many of the ob's/mw's thought it was over the top. I am certain my ongoing progesterone levels were not monitored by the clinic-that was done by the ob's (not the same group at all), and they told me to stop using them. If I had known this, i would have refused them, as the shots hurt, and the suppositories were nasty. I agree with lexbeach-if you don't have a problem usually with progesterone, I would question the use if they suggest it. Good Luck!!

cool...thanks for the info! I just remember last time I went for my u/s I saw a paper on the wall that talked about the progesterone shots after the IUI and it concerned me.

They have never checked my progesterone levels. Will definitely have to question that on Sunday!!!!1

Every doctor has a slightly different protocol. I've always been given progesterone after an IUI, though I don't typically have problems with low progesterone levels. Never injections, though (even not after our IVF cycle) - always oral or vaginal.
