Responses to Playboy's pro-intact stance

As you may remember, I posted a few months ago that the Playboy Advisor (their advice column) told a new mom not to circ her child. Well, the responses have come in, and Playboy published several from both pro- and anti-circ readers. You have to read them yourself, and the pro-circ people really give idiotic reasons, but Playboy stays true in their last words:

Again, I am pleased with Playboy's very sensible stance on this, and it is a great bit of exposure for us, given how many men read this.

(If you want to read it yourself, the cover is September with three blond women and a pink theme.)

I'm not going to buy Playboy but I'd love to read the responses if someone wouldn't mind copying and mailing the page to me! :

Hmmm...I wonder if DH got his yet....

I'm sooo lovin' playboy for this! I'm going to encourage DH to re-subscribe. Not that he'll need much encouraging...

And you know, in that short little reply, they really summed it for the pro-circ people:

"IT DOESN'T FREAKIN' MATTER IF SO-AND-SO IS CIRC'ED AND "OK", IT'S STILL NOT OK TO DO IT TO UNCONSENTING BABIES WHO MAY ONE DAY WISH THEIR GENITALS WERE INTACT!"

That's what I got from the reply anyways.

The september issue for this year is already out?

I have no problem buying playboy--as long as I can find it! This is the most religious town I've ever seen. 2 churches for every person

I just asked DH to go out and buy a Playboy.

He looked at me and calmly said, "what did you just say?"
I responded with, "Oh it's not for you, it's for me!" :

I want one, but I have no clue where to get one. I just asked DH and he didn't know either [wow] so now he's curious as to why I asked!

Remember to give Playboy positive feedback!

I wonder what is Playgirl's stance in this issue? I haven't looked at it over 10 years and at least back then all the men were cut.

I was wondering about Playgirl too. Huh. Time to do a porn run this morning. DH will be pleased.

I don't think you are allowed to buy porn before noon on Sunday

It's great that a mag like Playboy is taking a stand like this.

I have bought exactly one copy of Playgirl in my life, it was about 8 years ago. There was at least one intact man in it, although he may have been the only one, and that's why he stands out in my mind. Yeah, that must be it.

I've read my share of Playgirl (got a free subbie) and DH has a stack of mags in the closet. One day, I dug out the pile and looked through it, just out of curiosity as to the percentage of circ'd vs intact men. I was very pleased to discover that the vast majority of men were intact! It was like one cut man for every five or six intact, even in the American mags. In the British ones, the only cut men I saw were in some of the phone sex ads, which I've seen in the American mags, too, so I"m guessing they use the same ad for both editions and just change the phone number.

That's fantastic.
We're not porn consumers, but I agree it does reach a pretty wide audience. Maybe some men will read that and at least attempt to get over the "I want my son to look like me" nonsense that so many fathers use as a reason for RIC.

just another reason...

i PlayBoy.

Wow.... awesome that a men's mag is supporting the cause. My hubby is happy about it too since we're not going to get our baby boy cut. Time to renew his subscription to support Playboy.
