Hey mamas,
SO, i can't rmember which seafood is OK to eat, and being on the east coast and loving seafood, i can't wait till my MW appointment to ask for the guidelines.,.... Shrimp, fish, clams, lobster... whats on the OK list??

Thanks!!

All that is ok. Stay away from tuna, especially tuna steaks, shark steaks, swordfish, king mackerel, tile fish, and atlantic or farmed salmon. River and lake fish is more dangerous than ocean fish.

Oh, and lobster is to be eaten only on rare occasions (as if many of us eat it more often than that!)

Sushi? I can't remember and I did have a piece today.

Sushi can have parasites in it, unless the fish has been frozen (which is required here in Ontario). But the risk to parasites is only that they will eat up nutrients and can mean less for the baby. But I don't suppose Japanese women who normally eat sushi stop it, and I know near-arctic women who eat raw rish continue on throughout pregnancy, so... My midwife said it was fine.

I still eat sushi but only from very specific restaurants .

Tuna is a big no no but I crave it! I limit myself to eat it twice a month. I try to get real sashimi grade tuna that is wild caught. Less risks inovolved.

I LOVE mahi & salmon but I try to limit myself to one kind each week (when I can eat.....lol)

No uncooked fish (so no sushi), no big fish that live a long time (I think those were already listed), no shellfish such as clams, oysters and mussels. I've heard that up to 6 oz a week of tuna should be fine, same with shrimp (that equals about 2 meals a week.) That's what I've heard at least!
