The "I" word

In my efforts to think about anything besides when I will have this baby, my family and I went to garage sales today. I expected the "when are you due" questions. My response has been "last week." Every.single.person. asked if the doctor will induce. Like I'm some ticking time bomb or the baby will never come out. I was nice to one lady and said "the baby will come when the baby is ready." To which she had to tell me her story about her doctor not letting her go a week past her due date. My dh said "Yeah, that's what the doctors want so they can go on vacation." I love my dh.

Tomorrow we go to church and I really don't know if I can handle another "I" word. Maybe at church I will be more effective with "God knows when the baby will be ready to come much better than any doctor." :

Your dh rocks! Hang in there mama - maybe you won't even have to go to church because you'll be in labor!!!

Hang in there and feel free to be as snarky as you want! You're allowed after hearing the same dumb question so many times!

just think of the public service you are doing by going out (even though you are putting up with silly comments). it shows you can be overdue, let the baby come on it's own time, and be active! someone will remember that and that will help them when they need it most.

full moon alert...5:54am Wed Aug 9th.

I'm feeling for you - you're handing it much better than I was. I went to the grocery store sometime early this week, and the cashier asked the inevitable "when are you due?" to which I said "sometime last week" and she shook her head, pointed at me, and said, "Girl, you need to get yourself induced." I looked shocked (and I was, really) and said "Why on earth would I want to do that??" and she said, "you've been pregnant long enough and that baby needs to come out." I said, "then I'm sure it will." And I ran. Because otherwise I might have hit her.

My favorite thing about going past my EDD was the looks people gave me when they asked when I was due and I could tell them "last week". One girl at the grocery store said, "DON'T HAVE IT HERE!!" LOL. Like the baby was going to fall out without any warning at all.

I might just play that game next pregnancy too.

Someone must be watching over me because I heard no mention of the "I" word today at church or at lunch (we went for mexican and I ate tons of spicy salsa). I did get a lot of sympathy, which I don't mind, but thankfully no "I" word.

I hate to bust into y'all's DDC but I LOVED meeting people like this. I would wait a few seconds, grab my belly and go "OOOOOOOHHHHHHH!" The look was priceless! :
