I had barbie but no ken for the longest time. Eventually I got one handed down from a cousin (actually he was a "Backstreet Boys" doll,) and those two did plenty of things that no good little dolls should be doing. You see, I have proof that barbie is a slut!

Barbie-----just amkes me sick. As a feminist I just hate all she has stood for over the years. BLAH

There used to be and may still be a doll called " Just right Girls" that a friend told me about. anyone heard of them or know where to find them??

bratz could be the worst dolls ever.

i worked in toy stores for years and always liked the groovy girls i'm not much of a doll person (always loved stuffed animals more) and i find that lots of dolls have creepy faces. groovy girls are cute, i think.

mommy65, have you read Whose Calling the Shots about "War" play?
We've been invaded by die cast metal airplanes over here.
I think they need to process this war culture we live in. I may not like it, but I'd much rather he process it in childhood than as an adult.
I hope it works the way I want it to.

no, i haven't read it but i will-- thanks for the tip. i know enough that i don't want to take all the fun out of pretend play by making everything "nice". kids (especially boys) need to play out all those big aggressive impulses in a healthy way--- but it's so hard to walk through toy store isles and see little plastic versions of the stuff we see on t.v. news. i do agree they may as well processs it in childhood. we see what happens, sadly, when grown up little boys can't manage these violent feelings. they grow up to be...president.:

I just ordered some from Ebay. I loved mine.

The last Brain, Child magazine had a good article on a son who loves beautiful things and the mom who came to accept it. Sweet story.

Oh yeah, I loved the heart family.... when I was like, three. But as I got older I started to think the were lame (probably the influence of my brothers.) they really were pretty lame, but sweet.

Feral Cheryl

I am sad to say that I have given in to barbie for my six year old daughter but have you ever heard of Feral Cheryl. I bought her on the internet when my daughter was first born and I love her. She is the anti-barbie. I think the website is www.feralcheryl.com.au. She is a little pricey and you have to pay shipping from Aussie but she is worth it.

its already there!
feral sheryl is an aussie version of Barbie, with flat feet, hairy legs, dreadlocks, a normal body-shape, tatooes...
yeah, totally check her out!
