My brother got chicken pox last year at 18. He was only "ill" for about 2 days. He's always been in excellent health. As far as we know, he'd never been exposed before...

I don't mean to take over this thread with a different question but since we are on the subject of chicken pox, (and I'm sure this may have been covered elsewhere ) - What happens if a child unvaxed for CP were to come in contact with a child who was vaxed for CP and has a mild case? Does the unvaxed child get CP and the immunity for it or does that have to come from a case of CP occuring not via vaccine? Does this make sense?:

I figured i'd dig this back up since my mom just called tonight saying how my little sister whose almost 1 was taken to the dr's today because they think she has chicken pox she had developed a rash on 6/29/07 and we were in contact with them on 7/1/07. My mom is trying to push me into getting the chicken pox vax, i won't get it though.

I'm so glad you revived this thread because I was coming here to post a similar question.

My son is 10 and I am 32 and we have never had chickenpox- at least not obviously. Both my sisters had it (my mom said I had measles) and I slept with them but never got it. My son's sister had it, as well as his cousins and a couple classmates, but he has not had it either, nor is he vaxed with anything. I had titers checked once- not sure what they checked- but they told me I had immunity to nothing.

I'm not sure if, or how much, I should be concerned about this as well.

I never had CP BUT I had BOTH doses of the vax and I still show no immunity : Glad I had all that crap injected in my body so it could do nothing...
