How would I make this purse?

I got one for free from Luna (bars). I LOVE it. But I'd love to make my own! Any ideas? It seems like it'd be pretty simple. I don't even need the zipper, I just want to make the purse. But I don't want to take mine apart to figure it out.

It looks like the bubble gum wrapper bracelet type thing. But maybe they used longer paper like a magazine.
