Your DSS will give it up when he is ready and only then. I sucked my thumb regularly throughout the day (and probably a good portion of the night) until I was 13. As with experiences of some PP, my parents tried "everything" to get me to stop. Nothing worked until I was ready. It took going to camp for a week by myself with girl scouts - I didn't want anyone to make fun of me. My teeth are not perfect, but they are damn close - and I never had braces, retainers, etc.

Hey I am 33 too (I was the 1st adult-thumbsucker-admitter in the thread )
