Thank you for all the well-wishes. We are enjoying our babymoon!

I had a VBAC, but not at all how I envisioned it. My labor was never "regular" and I was having SEVERE pain in the quads (baby's head/bag of waters was pressing on a nerve) and the MW told me, [after laboring for 13 hours, but still no regular intervals and 2cm dilated], you can go home and walk around, come back when ctx are "regular"; be admitted for "pain relief"; . . . or you can always request another section.
I was pissed!!!!!

I took the second option, got admitted to the hosp. for "Pain Relief" (so much for getting one of the Alternative Birthing Rooms, I had been fantasizing about the tub for several hours, my legs were in so much pain--but you can't get it there without being 4cm). I had Simerol by IV and IM. Made be act darned goofy and it was weird to have a hallucinating-like dream state for four minutes at a time, rudely awakened by the pain in my legs with each contraction--but they got "regular" and an hour after the IV was in I was dilated to 8.

I really couldn't handle the pain in my legs, though. It was getting more and more "intense" so I figured if I couldn't birth in the Alt. Birth Room anyway, and I was already stuck with an IV and the Eternal (I mean, ELectronic) Fetal Monitoring belts around me with nowhere to really move around in the room . . .. why not just get the epidural. Well, how about because the minute after the anesthesiologist inserted the blasted thing, it was "time to push" and it only worked on one side. So, one leg felt like dead weight and the other felt like it was going to snap off.

I didn't want to do all that pushing, I think that I kind of rushed it. anyhoo, I tore (2nd degree) but I was so happy that I pushed the baby out nonetheless. And the recovery is SOOOOOOO much easier than a section, I can't even tell you!!

It took Jostein and I a few hours to decide on Hawk's name. I told him let's sleep on it (there wasn't anyone to tell other than a nurse or two anyway, It was midnight by the time we were sure) and we didn't tell anyone until the next day, when Bjørn Joseph came to meet his brother (along with Grandma and Grandpa).

I've got some pictures to post as well, the first few might be a little to "TMI" or "Discovery Channel" but probably not for this crowd! I will try to get them up this evening.

Hawk is a much sleepier baby than Joseph was. I am getting engorged and already have 8 oz stored in the freezer for when I decide to make the great escape--can't imagine leaving him now, but when we're ready there will be milk instock.

wow, Kathleen, quite the story! Sorry it didn't go as you envisioned, but I'm so happy you were able to push sweet Hawk our baby yourself!

Enjoy your babymoon
