Does your child hate to wear clothes..(spinoff)

The underwear thread got me thinking....

My 3 y/o son is a total nudist - Left to his own devices he'd never put on clothes unless he was cold...... I've told him we aren't allowed to go to stores/school without clothes, and have to keep him from stripping down when we go the pool, playground, etc. At home he is almost always naked (or halfway there). If I am running errands that involve staying the car (e.g. to the drive-thru bank) I usually just toss him naked into the car. If strangers come to the door I'm always trying to quickly toss him into a pair of shorts.... He certainly couldn't care less.

I'm wondering if anyone else has a budding streaker and what you make of all of it.

OH God. Hell yeah. My 3 year old son will NOT wear clothes. He even goes as far as peeing on himself sometimes just to keep from having to wear them. He has about two pairs of shorts that he will wear, but they are those stretchy 80's type shorts and his balls hang out..haha. When people come over i try to get him to wear clothes, but I am a very naked person too. I only wear clothes if someone is over or if I have to go somewhere. Being naked is so much better then clothes so I understand but it can be embarressing sometimes. You are not alone.

Ds (age 3) is going through a stripper phase. Which is understandable in this heat; sometimes I'm tempted to strip down myself. But I just ask him, repeatedly, to put his clothes back on, and I try not to make a big deal out of it. I figure that as long as we are consistantly clothed in front of him, he'll eventually get the message (people wear clothes).

My two DS's will ask when we get home if we are going anywhere, if the answer is no, they strip down to just their underoos!!! I'm fine, I take my bra off as soon as I get home, so I understand lol

My oldest is 13, so he's at an age where nakedness weirds him out a bit. Unfortunately, for him, DS2 (5yo) and DD (2.5yo) have no such inhibitions. They are both naked most of the time. DD is especially fond of "nakey" time and has to be begged and bribed to wear clothes, though she usually has shoes on all of the time. (She's such a girly girl -- she shoes!) Winters are very harsh here, and convincing her to wear pajamas to bed is like asking the Queen of England if you can wear her crown for a few minutes. (And of course, blankets are a no-go, too.)

I, too, have been known to just throw the kids in the car mostly naked if we need to go for a trip during which no one will be exiting the vehicle. (I usually ask DS to put on underwear, just so his seatbelt won't be rubbing directly against anything delicate. ) I picked up our CSA order last night with two naked kids in the car.

DH always says that I should start my own nudist colony, so I can't really say that they got it from a stranger. It doesn't bother me at all, though it does make DH a bit uncomfortable when they come streaking out of the house to greet him. (Or when DD stands on the back of the couch in front of the picture window while wearing not one stitch of clothing. It bothers me more that she's standing on the couch.) He really doesn't like them being outside in the buff, but I think that's one of the things childhood is all about, and they'll learn soon enough that society expects them to don clothing when making public appearances.

yup ds is naked almost all the time.

in fact we just had a man here measuring for new windows and for the last few minutes he was here ds was saying "i just can't keep my pants on." over and over.

luckily the man has kids so it wasn't too weird for me to say "please keep your pants on until the window man leaves."

we try to remain dressed when friends and strangers are over and in the front yard but mostly the clothes come off.

Incidentally, i was wondering when kids become interested in/able to dress themselves...ds has no interest in putting clothes on himself.

My kids will often run around the house in just underwear or just a big t-shirt. They are 10 and 8 and have just started showing slight modesty in public situations (for instance, wanting to get changed somewhere semi-private). They aren't modest with each other or with me yet. So your little ones may be naked for a while yet.

The only time my 3 yo dd will wear clothes is when we're going out. As soon as we get home, she strips down to her underwear. She's been doing this since she figured out how to undress herself.

The thing is she loves going shopping for clothes and is just as excited to get a new outfit for a present as she is a toy. I have a feeling we're going to have alot of explaining to do when she's older and realizes most of the pictures we have of her are without clothes.

I've got a nudist too. He doesn't even want to put on clothes if he's cold. He just says he wants a blanket. I am not worried about it one bit because I'm sure he'll eventually grow out of it.

Both my girls are nudists, lol. My older dd is getting better about keeping her upper body covered (mainly bc she's got an older brother and I'd like her to be a tad bit more modest) but most of the time she could care less. My almost 3 yr old absolutely HATES clothes and usually will only wear a sundress or a long t-shirt. I babysit and the 8 yr old boy I watch seems to be a little more interested in her nakedness than I would prefer so when he is here, I try to keep her more covered (and therefore lessen the amounts of times my 11 yr old son threatens to pound him for looking at his little sister : ).

Keeping them bare-bottom is how I potty them though, so it doesn't bother me one bit.

my son loves to be naked too, it was fine last year when he was 2 with potty training, it was the only way, but now i have to stuggle with him just to keep some underwear on, lol

Rylie is naked right this minute (as she usually is at home). I don't make her dress if people are coming to the house; all our friends expect to see her au naturel, and I really couldn't care less what the Fed Ex guy thinks (or any other stranger who comes knocking).

She doesn't usually put up a fuss about getting dressed in the mornings, but once we've gone out and come back home, it's rare for her to get fully dressed again unless she absolutely has to (I don't make her to play in the yard, which is what we normally do at night).

I imagine it's a phase, but we're going on two years now so maybe not? I actually hope she's always comfortable running around naked.

Tempest is naked 99% of the day. She'll put clothes on to go outside if it's really cold, or to go to the store, that's it. When we leave the house she has to pick which clothes she wears (usually a really nice dress)... or else.
