we got my kids a gorgeous wooden kitchen this past year-it was their only christmas gift. While we were moving they got ahold of crayons and a marker and drew all over it. I am so sad. Can I save it? I haven't tried anything yet because I'm scared to make it worse.

two words: magic eraser.
seriously, not the most natural thing out there BUT it will probably take the crayon and marker off. i would be suprised if it didn't... i have some extras laying around, i'd be happy to bring you one when i pick up the tub. just lemme know.

Try baby wipes. Conventional ones. That's my go-to for crayons. I think I've used them on markers before, but can't recall specifically.

Clover, I'll try them! I've been hesitant to try anything that is wet because I don't want to mess with the stain on it-it's really light. I think the marker is there for good-it was a sharpie. :

Acetone (finger nail polish remover) will take off the sharpie. White colored tooth paste and a gentle tooth brush will remove the crayon.

If all else fails, a bit of gentle sanding and then wax (recommend bees wax for children's toys).

the magic eraser helped take sharpie off our table when ds wrote on it. Like mentioned before not real natural, but it works

yup, it's taken sharpie off the girls' play table before. really, it's MAGIC. it's the only chemical-y thing in my cleaning stash, i use it as a last resort. DH on the other hand loves it and uses it all. the. time.

Hee hee-I can see him now! I'll try it for sure. Let me know if you're around tomorrow. Don't know if you're gonna see pool weather this week, though.

I know its not exactly the same but my son drew on the walls at my parents house with a sharpie and I used dish soap and it came off. I think it was dawn or something.

Side note - my son drew on the fridge with a crayon at our house and I used vinegar and it basically came off, but there is a faint stain. Does anyone know how to get THAT off?

and yes, I know, NO MORE CRAYONS AND MARKERS FOR THE 2 YEAR OLD!!!!!

Dh just informed me that I am stark raving mad. The kitchen is unfinished....is it still safe to try?
If it's unfinished, I'd sand it.

I used de-solv-it or goo-gone on crayons and it comes off beautifully. It's mostly citrus essential oils, so relatively natural, but available at almost any store.
